Nashville, TN – Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, was presented with the “Defender of Liberty” award at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention by Richard Bott Sr. and Rich Bott, the Founder and President/CEO respectively of Bott Radio Network. Bott Radio Network was founded in 1962 and now has 93 radio stations. The award recognized Staver for his faithful and effective work in defending religious liberty, the sanctity of human life, and the family.
The video notes that Mat Staver is “one of the premier constitutional litigators in the country... [who] has argued two landmark cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.” Staver, as Founder of Liberty Counsel, filed the first private lawsuit against ObamaCare on the same day that it was signed into law. This case, Liberty University v. Geithner, is the most comprehensive challenge pending in the country, and Staver says, “Our fight against Obamacare is far from over.” Currently the U.S. Supreme Court has directed the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals to reach a decision.
Mat Staver said, “I am honored and humbled to receive the ‘Defender of Liberty’ award from Dick and Rich Bott. I highly respect these men because they have dedicated their lives to God and they live out their faith in a highly principled manner. They understand the opportunity and the responsibility they have to use the medium of radio to communicate the Gospel and to impact the culture.”
Bott Radio Network is a network of 93 radio stations nationwide that air Liberty Counsel’s 60-second radio program, “Freedom’s Call,” each weekday.
