Wal-Mart Changed Policy on Christmas and Should Change Policy on Supporting Anti-Family Radicals
We reported in a recent Liberty Alert that Wal-Mart has recently agreed to allow employees to wish shoppers "Merry Christmas" and longer ignoring Christmas in its stores. We believe it is important to encourage companies that respond favorably to requests we make. We also feel a responsibility to inform you about other actions Wal-Mart has taken, so that you can urge the company to make other needed changes.
Wal-Mart is supporting a network for its gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) workers, joining companies like as Citigroup, DuPont and IBM. These companies are embracing a radical agenda and are seriously out of touch with mainstream American values.
Wal-Mart spent $60,000 to sponsor a meeting for a San Francisco "GLBT" employee advocacy group that promotes same-sex marriage. Wal-Mart should realize that most Americans do not support same-sex marriage. Most of the states now have constitutional amendments proclaiming that marriage is a union between one man and one woman that were passed by the majority of voters.
In 2005, Wal-Mart hosted a two day event called “December to Remember” that was attended by a team of "GLBT" advocates. Wal-Mart invited a team that included representatives from Out & Equal and the Human Rights Campaign, to discuss workplace issues and marketing. When word of the meeting spread, Wal-Mart issued a press release indicated that the company "is making a strong commitment for diversity and a business decision that includes all our customers and associates."
Perhaps Wal-Mart does not know it is ignoring the morals of most of its shoppers by embracing the radical homosexual agenda. We want to show them that their support for homosexual marriage is not a good business decision.
In hopes of encouraging Wal-Mart to change, we are joining with Don Wildmon and the American Family Association in a boycott of Wal-Mart. The boycott will last for at least the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. When enough shoppers stay away from Wal-Mart, perhaps they will take notice and make changes, just like they changed on the issue of Christmas.
Contact Wal-Mart at 1-800-WAL-MART or via a form on their web site and respectfully let them know you will not let your shopping dollars support advocacy organizations like Out & Equal, which pushes for same-sex marriage.
Wal-Mart responded to pressure and no longer censors Christmas, and we believe they will make other changes that are important to the public.
