The president's defense team takes its turn today to answer the charges leveled at President Donald Trump by House Democrats this week.
We're about to see the truth of this proverb: "The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him" (Prov 18:17).
Not, of course, that what we've heard from House Democrats has been true or compelling. Especially since the Democrats' lead prosecutor, Adam Schiff, has an abysmal record for truthfulness.
Schiff claimed he didn't know the identity of the “whistle-blower” whose accusations sparked the impeachment inquiry. But Schiff later admitted that wasn't true. His office met with the whistle-blower.
And speaking of the whistleblower, now largely forgotten by Democrats, recent reporting turned up disturbing information about his politics.

The impeachment of President Donald Trump got its start on August 12, 2019. That’s when an unidentified whistleblower issued this complaint:
In the course of my official duties, I have received information from multiple U.S. Government officials that the President of the United States is using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election.
In other words, this individual heard these charges from others—and not directly. In courts, that’s called hearsay and gets booted.
But now we’re learning more about this person and his politics. Journalist Paul Sperry just wrote a 4,000-word piece at RealClearInvestigations.com about him. Here’s a key excerpt:
Barely two weeks after Donald Trump took office, Eric Ciaramella – the CIA analyst whose name was recently linked in a tweet by the president and mentioned by lawmakers as the anonymous “whistleblower” who touched off Trump’s impeachment – was overheard in the White House discussing with another staffer how to remove the newly elected president from office, according to former colleagues.
Sources told RealClearInvestigations the staffer with whom Ciaramella was speaking was Sean Misko. Both were Obama administration holdovers working in the Trump White House on foreign policy and national security issues. And both expressed anger over Trump’s new “America First” foreign policy, a sea change from President Obama’s approach to international affairs.
“Just days after he was sworn in they were already talking about trying to get rid of him,” said a White House colleague who overheard their conversation.
Misko went to work for Adam Schiff this summer where, Sperry reports, he provided “guidance” to the whistleblower.
If true, this report means Trump-hating Obama hold-overs fanned the Trump impeachment mania into flames.
This is a witch hunt and it must end!
By the way, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the National Security Council official who admitted to leaking information about Trump’s July 25 phone call with the president of Ukraine—possibly to the whistleblower—is no apolitical public servant according to one of his commanding officers.
Army Lt. Col. Jim Hickman, said this about Vindman: “Do not let the uniform fool you. He is a political activist in uniform.”
This is all a political attack against a sitting president who has done nothing wrong. And that’s why it’s urgent that we call on Senate Republicans to vote to acquit the president.
And why I’m also asking you to send a fax to five key GOP moderate senators—Susan Collins, Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, Cory Gardner and Lamar Alexander—demanding that they vote AGAINST any motion to expand this witch hunt.
You can do that right now using our FAX Congress service.
Senate Democrats—especially Chuck Schumer—are using the media to pressure these moderates to vote for more witnesses, more documents and more testimony.
But the House had every opportunity to pursue a full investigation and go after every White House witness it wanted. Instead, they rushed to finish by Christmas—after which Speaker Pelosi sat on the articles of impeachment for four weeks.
Now, it’s somehow urgent that Democrats get more witnesses for their supposedly airtight case!
Let’s call on moderate GOP senators to reject this Democrat attempt to expand their fishing investigation into the president and his administration.
Send your fax now to five key GOP moderate senators—Susan Collins, Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, Cory Gardner and Lamar Alexander. Demand that they vote AGAINST any motion to expand this witch hunt.
Please act right away!
Thank you for your friendship and your strong patriotism!
