This coronavirus scare is just the sort of situation in which tyrannically minded local, state and federal officials will try to subvert our freedom.

Let me first be very clear in saying that I do not believe that President Trump has any intention of taking advantage of this crisis by undermining Americans’ civil liberties. However, I think we all know what a radical progressive administration would do if such was in power!

Sadly, as each day of the panic unfolds, some government officials at local, state and federal levels are robbing Americans of our most basic freedom ... including the freedom to worship.

Examples can be readily found in the daily news:

• Champaign, IL Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen last week signed an Executive Order mandating breathtakingly unprecedented measures including banning all public assembly, banning the sale or purchase of any guns or ammunition and even forcibly taking control and title to private property.

• NY Governor Andrew Cuomo is calling on the President to federalize decision making over whether public assembly of any kind will be allowed. Cuomo also asked the President to call up the US military to handle our domestic response and enforce government edicts.

• NY City Mayor Bill DeBlasio is calling on the President to nationalize businesses, mandating the rationing of their goods and services.

In case you thought that draconian measures would never really be used, consider this ... A 53-year-old Nelson County, KY man is being held in forced quarantine in his own house by heavily armed Sherriff’s Deputies. His family can’t so much as go out to scrounge for toilet paper.

And you’ve probably read that Nancy Pelosi tried to bring a “Coronavirus funding bill” to the House floor for a “unanimous vote” when no members were there to vote on it or read it.

What’s worse, Speaker Pelosi openly admitted that the members would be authorizing the implementation of laws that had not even been written yet! In other words, she called for a vote for a “blank check.” Given that Pelosi already tried to slip abortion funding into a previous bill, these actions run against the very grain of a constitutional republic.

History is replete with examples of just how quickly so called “soft” tyranny can turn to “hard” tyranny and the complete destruction of citizens’ rights. It can happen in the blink of an eye.

Americans must be hyper-vigilant right now if we hope to retain our God-given, constitutionally codified liberties!
