Washington, D.C. – Liberty Counsel President Anita Staver has joined other Christian leaders in the American Prayer Initiative and is urging Americans to intercede daily for this nation until Election Day, November 6.
The idea of the American Prayer Initiative came about when Anita Staver met with Vonette Bright, co-founder of Campus Crusade for Christ; Nancy Schulze, founder of the Congressional Wives Speakers Bureau; Shirley Dobson, Chair of the National Day of Prayer Task Force and other Christian women in Washington, D.C. for an intense day of strategizing on how to make a positive impact in America. The women agreed that nothing can be accomplished without prayer.
A website AmericanPrayerInititive.org was created to assist people who are willing to spend a mere 60 seconds each day in focused prayer. The site contains a place to register for a daily prayer email, a printable monthly prayer calendar, and Scripture verses related to the 30 prayer topics.
The prayer topics are focused on issues, including life, liberty, family, ethics, the poor, repentance, justice, race relations, the arts, health care, leaders, domestic tranquility, voting and many others. Each prayer topic is paired with several related Scripture verses.
“The website is simple,” said Nancy Schulze in a recent interview. “It’s simply one minute that everyone can take out of their day to pray for their country. Those prayers are sorely needed right now.”
Anita Staver, President of Liberty Counsel, remarked: “Election Day could be the tipping point for America. Either this nation turns to God, or we may not have another chance. The American Prayer Initiative is a reminder that our plans are useless unless we appeal to God the Creator. America desperately needs His intervention.”
