LOUISVILLE, KY – Following Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin's signing of a bill that now provides accommodation to clerks who have religious objections to having their name and authority on marriage licenses for same-sex couples, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered dismissal of the pending appeals against the Governor in Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis’ case. However, it does not dismiss Davis’ claims against the Governor or the Plaintiffs in the underlying lawsuit in the district court.
“Kim Davis got the accommodation she sought from the beginning,” said Mat Staver, Liberty Counsel’s Founder and Chairman.
