Washington, DC—The winter storm that hit the mid-Atlantic could not stop throngs of pro-lifers from taking their annual trek to Washington, D.C., to remember the 56 million babies who have died since Roe v. Wade was decided on January 23, 1973.

“America chose the wrong path of history in 1973, when seven Justices of the Supreme Court voted for abortion,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. “The right to life is the right of all rights, without which no other right has meaning. We must protect innocent children from such a brutal death, and we must lift up women and mothers who are created in the image of God. Abortion concerns and affects everyone,” said Staver.

In 2013 there were 87 abortion clinics closed, a record number since 1973. This year several abortion clinics have already closed. More and more pro-life legislation is being passed by the state legislatures. “I believe we will see the return of a culture of life, where the preborn are protected,” said Staver.

This year’s March for Life theme is Adoption. Sadly, for every one baby that is adopted in the United States every year, another 61 are aborted.

“Unplanned does not mean unlovable,” Staver said. “No story is dearer than an adoption story where a heroic mother gives the ultimate gift and a loving family emerges. Liberty Counsel encourages women facing a crisis pregnancy to choose life, choose adoption,” Staver concluded.

Liberty Counsel partnered with other pro-life organizations, including Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of the reality TV show 19 Kids and Counting, to launch the pro-life website www.LifeUnited.org.
