Singing Praises: Here's What the Bible Has to Say...



California Gov. Gavin Newsom has banned places of worship from singing and chanting, even in small fellowship gatherings in private homes.
 
But singing and chanting are critically important aspects of Christian worship. Here's what the Bible has to say about it...
  • Colossians 3:16 -- Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
  • Psalm 95:1-2 -- Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
  • Ephesians 5:19 -- Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,
  • Psalm 147:1 -- Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.
  • James 5:13 -- Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.
  • Psalm 13:6 -- I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.
  • Psalm 105:2 -- Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!

  • Jeremiah 20:13 -- Sing to the Lord; praise the Lord! For he has delivered the life of the needy from the hand of evildoers.
  • Psalm 150:1 -- Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens!
  • Psalm 98:4 -- Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
  • 1 Chronicles 15:16 -- David also commanded the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brothers as the singers who should play loudly on musical instruments, on harps and lyres and cymbals, to raise sounds of joy.
So, there you have it, straight from the Word of the Lord itself – singing praises to our Lord is essential. The Bible tells us so!
