Liberty Counsel is a nonprofit legal ministry on the front lines of advancing religious liberty, the sanctity of human life and God’s design for marriage and family.

Since 1989, we have represented clients before the United States Supreme Court, state and federal courts, legislative bodies and government agencies. Our attorneys have testified before Congress and state legislatures.

Our far-reaching cases impact every American. In just the past few years:

• We fought to keep churches open. (Harvest Rock Church and Harvest International Ministries v. Newsom, winning 5-4 on December 3, 2020, and returning to the U.S. Supreme Court for a second ruling, 6-3, on California’s indoor worship ban).
• We defended our defenders. (Multiple cases for each branch of the armed services, including a class action certification and classwide injunction).
• We got health care heroes their jobs back. (Jane Does 1-14 v. NorthShore University HealthSystem, winning the nation’s first and only class action monetary settlement regarding the COVID shot mandate for $10,337,500).
• We protected religious viewpoints in the public square. (Shurtleff v. City of Boston, winning 9-0 at the U.S. Supreme Court).
• We helped restore the First Amendment. (We filed an amicus brief Kennedy v. Bremerton School District, and the Supreme Court cited our Shurtleff v. City of Boston case to overturn the Court’s 1971 case of Lemon v. Kurtzman).
• We worked relentlessly to see Roe overturned. (Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, in which our amicus brief was cited in the majority opinion, overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade and 1992 Planned Parenthood v. Casey abortion opinions).
