“No church” child custody order goes to US Supreme Court
Emily Bickford is a perfectly fit parent in every way except for the fact that, according to Maine courts, she is a Bible-believing Christian raising her daughter in her own faith.
Maine's Supreme Court has upheld an order — which allows churches to be referred to as “cults” — forbidding a Christian mother from taking her own daughter to church, any religious organization, or event, reading the Bible, or allowing the now 13-year-old daughter to associate with any of her Chirstian friends from church or Sunday school.
Now Liberty Counsel is preparing to take this extraordinary case, Bickford v. Bradeen, to the U.S. Supreme Court.
No judge should ever have the power to prevent a perfectly fit parent from taking their child to church.
