Liberty Counsel Files Brief in Kentucky Ten Commandments Case

Today, Liberty Counsel filed a brief at the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in defense of a Foundations of American Law and Government display, which includes the Ten Commandments. Kentucky District Court Judge Jennifer Coffman ruled in favor of the ACLU which filed suit against McCreary and Pulaski counties to get the display removed from government property. Liberty Counsel represents the counties in this case.

These are the same cases Mat Staver argued at the U.S. Supreme Court in 2005. Since that opinion was released, however, Justices Roberts and Alito have replaced Justices Rehnquist and O’Connor. It is likely that a different result will be reached if the McCreary case reaches the High Court again.

Since the 2005 decision, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the exact same Foundations of American Law and Government display that is at issue in our appeal. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals also upheld the same display.
