Tomorrow is Religious Freedom Day, yet World Changers of Florida has been denied the right to distribute Bibles within the Collier County School District. Although the group was allowed to distribute Bibles in the past, the superintendent is refusing to allow the group to set up tables offering free Bibles during non-instructional time.
Liberty Counsel sent a demand letter on behalf of Jerry Rutherford, President of World Changers, asking for a reversal of the decision, which appears to be based solely upon the fact that the materials are religious in nature. Other community groups are routinely permitted to distribute materials in Collier County schools.
Religious Freedom Day has been recognized for the last ten years under both Presidents Clinton and Bush. The presidents have called upon Americans to "observe this day through appropriate events and activities in homes, schools, and places of worship."
It is a sad day when the Bible is treated like contraband where it was once a focus of our educational system!

The New England Primer - America's Early Christian Textbook
New England Primer is a wonderful little book that is a good example of early American education. Introduced in the Boston public schools in 1690, for the next two centuries the New England Primer was a required textbook from which every first grader learned grammar and spelling.
The New England Primer taught first graders the alphabet using religious references. For the letter "A", the students learned, "In Adam's Fall, We sinned all." For the letter "C", the students recited: "Christ crucified, For sinners died." You can get your own copy from the Liberty Counsel online store or by calling us at 800-671-1776.
