WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Sanctity of Human Life Day is January 22, 2026, and there are several events honoring life in the nation’s capital this week, including the 53rd annual March for Life Rally and Faith & Liberty’s “America 250 Remembers — Remembering Victims of Roe” special memorial and prayer vigil.
The annual March for Life Rally will take place on Friday, January 23, 2026. The March for Life is a response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that allowed for the nationwide killing of unborn babies. It was established to celebrate life and advocate for protecting women and unborn babies. Since this year marks the 53rd year after the infamous Roe decision, the 53rd annual March for Life Rally, and an accompanying concert, will begin at 11 a.m. on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and then participants will march to Capitol Hill beginning around 1 p.m.
According to the March for Life, it is the largest annual human rights rally in the world where tens of thousands of pro-life supporters gather on the National Mall to celebrate “each and every life from the moment of conception.” Since the High Court overturned the Roe and the 1992 Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey abortion decisions on June 24, 2022, this year’s March for Life will be the fourth such event in post-Roe America.

The theme of the 2026 March for Life is “Life is a Gift.” According to the rally’s website, the theme emphasizes that at the “heart of the pro-life movement” lies an “unshakeable conviction that life is very good and worthy of protection, no matter the circumstances.” The March for Life invites all people to “rediscover the beauty, goodness, and joy of life itself.”
Liberty Counsel Vice President of Governmental Affairs Jonathan Alexandre will participate in the rally and the march, as will other Liberty Counsel team members.
This year’s rally will host a range of speakers including Vice President J.D. Vance; Speaker of the House Mike Johnson; U.S. Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ); Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse Spokeswoman Cissie Graham Lynch; and March for Life President Jennie Bradley Lichter. The Friends of Club 21 Choir, a chorus of young adults with Down syndrome, will perform the National Anthem. The Grammy-nominated and Dove award-winning band Sanctus Real will perform at the rally’s concert.
On Thursday, January 22 at 12 p.m., Faith & Liberty will host “America 250 Remembers — Remembering Victims of Roe” on the west side of the U.S. Supreme Court from 12:00—1:00 p.m.
The annual tradition of remembering the lives lost to abortion on this day will continue with the placing of 3,000 flowers on the sidewalk in front of the U.S. Supreme Court in honor of the approximate number of American babies who are aborted every day. In light of America’s 250th anniversary, that theme will be woven throughout this special memorial and prayer vigil. Participants will gather to remember the lives lost to abortion within the broader story of America’s history, reflecting on how the sanctity of life is woven into America’s founding principles. Scripture reading and speakers will share the history of the pro-life movement leading up to the overturn of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision and will reminisce on how the nation’s Founders regarded life with the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago. In keeping with the America 250 theme, this year the 3,000 flowers will be red, white, and blue.
Speakers will offer reflection, prayers and/or Bible verses to honor the sanctity of life. The speakers will include Liberty Counsel Vice President of Strategic Partnerships Rev. Gregory Cox, Faith & Liberty Senior Vice President Peggy Nienaber, Congressman Buddy Carter from Georgia, and Congressman Greg Steube from Florida.
Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “New life is a true and extraordinary gift bearing inherent dignity and value that transcends laws. The death of so many innocent unborn children is a stain on America. The compassion of our nation can be measured by how we choose to defend life when it is the smallest, most vulnerable, and entirely dependent on our courage to speak and act on their behalf. Even with the overturn of Roe and Casey, about one million of unborn babies are still lost to abortion every year. That means the battle to protect unborn children is far from over. There is much work be done in each state to protect innocent children and we must never give up in this battle to protect every unborn life.”
