National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Mar 16, 2026

ORLANDO, FL – The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) marks its 25th anniversary of advocacy on issues including the sanctity of life, the protection of religious liberty, biblical justice, parental rights, responsible immigration reform, criminal justice reform, and confronting antisemitism. Since it was founded in 1995 by Reverend Samuel Rodriguez, the NHCLC has grown into the largest Hispanic church association in America with tens of thousands of churches, associations of churches, and affiliated congregations across the nation.

For a quarter of a century, the NHCLC has been a “consistent and visible witness” for the unborn, the conscience rights of people of faith, and for the “fundamental freedom to live out biblical convictions without government coercion,” reads an NHCLC statement.

Since 2012, Liberty Counsel has represented the NHCLC filing numerous amicus briefs on its behalf, most notably in the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling that overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade and 1992 Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey abortion decisions. The U.S. Supreme Court cited Liberty Counsel’s amicus brief in its decision to overturn Roe noting the roots of abortion were “motivated by a desire to suppress the size” of the minority population. Liberty Counsel also filed amicus briefs on behalf of the NHCLC in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and South Carolina helping successfully defend pro-life laws in those states.

As part of NHCLC’s 25th anniversary, Liberty Counsel has completed an independent review of internal documentation provided by denominational leaders, national church networks, ministry associations, regional chapters, and its local affiliated congregations. Following this review, Liberty Counsel confirmed that the NHCLC represents tens of thousands of ministries and churches through its coalition structure.

Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “As part of our review, the documentation provided confirms that the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference represents a nationwide coalition of tens of thousands of churches connected through denominational partnerships, ministry networks, and affiliated congregations. As this 2026 verification process continues, the number of churches connected to the NHCLC ecosystem is expected to exceed previously referenced figures and supports previous descriptions that the organization is a powerful voice for matters of faith and conscience.”
