Louis Farrakhan, a notorious racist and anti-Semite who has praised Hitler, said “powerful Jews” run the government and control Hollywood, and that white people deserve to die, is a poisonous influence among many leaders.
Farrakhan bashed Jews and Israel at the Nation of Islam’s annual recent Saviour’s Day event. He has consistently described the Jewish synagogue as the “Synagogue of Satan” and has claimed that “the Satanic Jews…control everything and mostly everybody.” Farrakhan also claims that Jews caused the Holocaust and blames them for 9/11. Farrakhan also praised Adolf Hitler. He said, “The Jews don’t like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that’s a good name. Hitler was a very great man.”
Farrakhan also has called white people “white devils,” “potential humans” who “haven’t evolved yet.” He said publicly in 2015, “White people deserve to die, and they know, so they think it’s us coming to do it.”
Tamika Mallory, the national co-chair of the Women’s March, attended the Nation of Islam’s annual Saviour’s Day event in February, where Farrakhan praised her during his speech. Mallory has publicly supported and praised Farrakhan on social media as the “greatest of all time.” After a backlash from the Anti-Defamation League and other Jewish organizations, Mallory defended Farrakhan by implying that religious leaders are supposed to consider Jews their enemies. “If your leader does not have the same enemies as Jesus, they may not be THE leader!” she wrote on Twitter. Mallory was also welcomed at Twitter’s national headquarters where she is pictured in front of the Black Lives Matter wall and among many staff supporting her presence.
Mallory isn’t the only Women’s March leader with ties to Farrakhan. The group’s co-president, Carmen Perez, also has defended him. Barack Obama, Democratic Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison and the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, along with other members of the Black Congressional Caucus (CBC), are also associated with Farrakhan. MSNBC contributor Al Sharpton has also come out in defense of Farrakhan.
The CBC held a secret meeting with Farrakhan in 2005 but hid it from the public to avoid controversy. Four House Democrats, Rep. Maxine Waters, Rep. James Clyburn, Rep. Andre Carson and Rep. Al Green revealed they met with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan during their time in Congress. They are now refusing Jewish civil rights groups’ pleas to denounce him.
