Hate Crimes Passes House and Heads to Senate

Yesterday the U.S. House passed H.R. 1913 and elevated "actual or perceived" "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" to the same federal legal status as race. The vote was 249 to 175, with 10 not voting. You can see how your representative voted by checking the roll online.

Senator Ted Kennedy has  introduced a similar bill (S. 909) in the Senate. The bill, which has 34 cosponsors, has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee. There is still time to combat this bill, and here is how you can help:

• Sign the Petition to Congress against "Hate Crimes" laws.
• Contact Your Senators and request them to vote NO. They will listen to constituents. Call the Capitol Switchboard number, (202) 224-3121, and ask to be connected to your Senator.
• Continue to pray against this dangerous piece of legislation. Together we can make a difference.
