“Shalom” is the Hebrew word for “peace” and remains a standard greeting in Israel. This word also represents the internal strength the Jewish people find only in God as they live in this small nation that is a major point of conflict and contention for the rest of the world.

The Why Israel Matters “Shalom” episode that airs tonight illustrates examples of people who are praying for and seeking the peace of Jerusalem. One of the stories features Avi Zimmerman, executive director of the Ariel Foundation, who depicts a company in Israel where Israelis and Palestinians are working and thriving together.
