Jonathan Alexandre Appointed as New Director of Public Policy in Washington, DC

WASHINGTON, DC -- Effective Monday, Jonathan Alexandre, J.D., will be the new Director of Public Policy for Liberty Counsel and Liberty Counsel Action in Washington, DC. In this position, Alexandre will consult with and advise law and policy makers, including nonprofit and advocacy groups at the federal, state, and local levels across the nation, regarding issues on religious freedom, the sanctity of life, marriage and the family, foreign and domestic policies, Israel, and the Middle East. In addition, Alexandre will oversee internships in the Washington, DC office. The internship opportunities are available to students from around the country who are interested in law, policy, and Israel. He also will retain an active role assisting the Massachusetts Family Institute (MFI) in public policy.

Previously, Alexandre was Assistant General Counsel and Public Policy Coordinator for the MFI in Boston. In this role, he provided counsel for MFI’s mission in the legal and legislative arenas to advance the sanctity of life, the dignity of traditional marriage, and religious liberty in the Commonwealth. Alexandre developed the Massachusetts Attorney Resource Council, a network of pro-family Massachusetts attorneys. Before his tenure at MFI, Alexandre worked for the Mayor of Worcester, Massachusetts, The Jerusalem Center of Public Affairs in Jerusalem, Israel as a Scholar in Residence, and the United States Army's Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School. He has been a political lobbyist for Christians United for Israel and has spoken on two occasions at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

Alexandre has been a consultant to the Youth and Family Enrichment Services in Boston where he mentored and supported the educational and social development of peers from underrepresented racial groups. In college, he served as a peer mentor to help the scholastic achievement of racial minority students. As the Coordinator of the Firm Foundation Ministry, Alexandre developed and instructed an annual Christian Apologetics Academy and coordinated spiritual formation retreats, spiritually-centered recreational activities for college students.

Alexandre earned his undergraduate degree from Ana Maria College in Political Science and Government and received his Juris Doctor from Liberty University School of Law.
