WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Amid internal turmoil at America's largest abortion mill, Planned Parenthood has removed its president after only eight months on the job.
Dr. Leana Wen, who became president of Planned Parenthood in November 2018, said in a Twitter post that her fate had been decided at a “secret meeting.” She later issued a statement saying she was “leaving because the new board chairs and I have philosophical differences over the direction and future of Planned Parenthood. The new Board leadership has determined that the priority of Planned Parenthood moving forward is to double down on abortion rights advocacy. With the landscape changing dramatically in the last several months and the right to safe, legal abortion care under attack like never before, I understand the shift in the Board’s prioritization.”
After Wen was appointed president, multiple senior officials at Planned Parenthood have left including: the former executive vice president; the former executive director of the group’s political arm; the group’s former director of political outreach; and the senior vice president for policy, advocacy and campaigns. A vice president also submitted a resignation this week.
Wen stated in January that “Our core mission is providing, protecting, and expanding access to abortion and reproductive health care. We will never back down from that fight.” However, while masquerading as a “healthcare” provider for women, Planned Parenthood killed a record number of unborn babies via abortion during its fiscal year 2017, according to its latest annual report.

Wen’s dismissal came on the heels of the Trump administration’s Title X Protect Life Rule going into effect. Now federal funding will be cut off from Planned Parenthood by approximately $60 million. Planned Parenthood’s annual report shows that in the year ending June 30, 2018, it reaped a total of $563.8 million in government funding, an increase of $20.1 million above the $543.7 million in government revenue it received the previous year.
“Planned Parenthood is in turmoil because it’s losing tens of millions of dollars of taxpayer money,” said Liberty Counsel’s Founder and Chairman Mat Staver. “Apparently, the president was not radical enough for this giant abortion mill. Abortion has nothing to do with healthcare. It is the intentional act of killing a human being and Planned Parenthood performed nearly one-half of all abortions in the U.S. in 2017. That is an average of 911 abortions each day. That is human genocide for profit. Americans do not want to fund the destruction of innocent human life,” said Staver.
