The state of Missouri has filed a lawsuit against the abortion giant Planned Parenthood for allegedly misleading women about the safety of the abortion pill Mifepristone and violating the state’s consumer protection law.
On its website, Planned Parenthood still claims chemical abortion is “very safe,” even “safer than…Tylenol.” Yet, Mifepristone’s own warning label from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recognizes that 4.6 percent of women who use the drug Mifepristone, dispensed under the Mifeprex label, are forced to seek emergency medical attention. According to the lawsuit, recent studies show the number of women being harmed after ingesting Mifepristone have climbed as high as 10.9 percent after just one dose.
“The lies must stop,” Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said in a press release. “The suit alleges that Planned Parenthood has systematically misled women about the dangers of chemical abortions in order to cut costs and drive up revenue at the risk of women’s health and safety.”

In the release, AG Bailey stated that “comparing the labeled use of one drug with the misuse of another in a safety claim is disingenuous” and “illegal.” He noted these practices are a “blatant violation” of the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, which prohibits deceptive advertising on consumer goods.
“I will not allow a death factory to lie to Missouri women in pursuit of its radical agenda,” wrote AG Bailey. “We’re holding the national Planned Parenthood entity accountable for the lies it tells women in Missouri and across the nation. No one is above the law, not even Planned Parenthood.”
For violating the state’s consumer law, AG Bailey noted the lawsuit seeks:
In March, AG Bailey had previously issued a cease-and-desist order to Planned Parenthood formally prohibiting the abortion giant from performing chemical abortions in the state citing the company’s “uncontroverted track record” for disregarding Missouri health and safety laws.
In November 2024, abortion became a constitutional “right” in the state after Missouri voters approved a constitutional amendment, which nullified the state’s near-total abortion ban.
Liberty Counsel’s Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “Comparing chemical abortion drugs to Tylenol is offensive and deceptive. Chemical abortions harm women physically and emotionally and cruelly kill defenseless children in the womb. The abortion industry has an agenda of death that disregards the life of unborn children and the health of their mothers.”
