DETROIT, MI – Louis Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam leader and anti-Semite who has praised Hitler, recently called the Jews “termites,” a term Nazis used to dehumanize Jews. He further accused Jews of destroying everything good about the world.
“Louis Farrakhan’s racist language is the kind of dehumanizing rhetoric used by Hitler that laid the groundwork for the Holocaust,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Christians in Defense of Israel and Liberty Counsel. “Anyone who associates with him and will not condemn his outrageous rhetoric are complicit with Farrakhan. There are many high-ranking Democratic leaders from former President Barack Obama to Keith Ellison that have stood by Farrakhan. I call on them to condemn Farrakhan’s racist and dangerous rhetoric,” said Staver.
Farrakhan spoke at an event on Sunday to mark the 23rd anniversary of the Nation of Islam’s Million Man March and Holy Day of Atonement in Detroit. In his address he said, “So when they talk about Farrakhan, call me a hater, you know what they do, call me an anti-Semite. Stop it! I’m anti-termite.”
Farrakhan later posted a segment of his speech on Twitter with the caption: “I’m not an anti-Semite. I’m anti-Termite.”
Twitter will not suspend Farrakhan over the tweet though the social media platform has penalized others. It appears there is a double standard at work.
Farrakhan previously bashed Jews and Israel at the Nation of Islam’s annual Saviour’s Day event. He has consistently described the Jewish synagogue as the “Synagogue of Satan” and has claimed that “the Satanic Jews…control everything and mostly everybody.” Farrakhan also claims that Jews caused the Holocaust and blames them for 9/11. Farrakhan also praised Adolf Hitler. He said, “The Jews don’t like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that’s a good name. Hitler was a very great man.”
Farrakhan also has called white people “white devils,” and “potential humans” who “haven’t evolved yet.” He said publicly in 2015, “White people deserve to die, and they know, so they think it’s us coming to do it.”
“Before the Holocaust, Jews were demeaned, dehumanized and blamed for the evils of society. Such despicable rhetoric paved the way for the slaughter of six million Jews. We cannot remain silent today when someone like Louis Farrakhan follows the path of Nazis. I condemn Farrakhan’s racist statements and call on others, especially those who have supported or stood by him, to do the same,” concluded Staver.
