Apartment Complex Resident Will Host Bible Study After Seven Years Of Being Denied

Nov 29, 2007

A resident of an public housing complex in Richmond, Illinois, is ready to bring in the New Year with a Bible study that she has been trying to hold in the community room for the past seven years. The resident has been asking the president of the complex for permission to host a Bible study, but was consistently rebuffed at annual meetings and was told that the community room was off-limits for Bible study because church and state could not mix in public housing.

After receiving a demand letter from Liberty Counsel, the Housing Authority that manages the complex agreed to allow the Bible study. Additionally, the Housing Authority not only removed the president from office but also eliminated her office entirely. The first Bible study will be held in January, after it is publicized in a newsletter for the residents.
