Through intimidation and misinformation, pastors and other Christian leaders have been silenced on moral issues that have severe societal consequences. Liberty Counsel is empowering them to exchange their muzzles for megaphones. Our "Silence is Not an Option" DVD and book have been distributed to tens of thousands of churches to educate their leadership on their right and duty to speak biblical truth. 

Liberty Counsel is involved in significant initiatives that empower pastors and other faith leaders. Various anti-God forces (organizations and even government officials) are targeting them more than ever before. Perhaps your pastor or congregation will be the next target! We stand ready to help, as we have many times for others this year:

  • Helped a church that meets in a store-front mall in Lake Worth, Florida, where a code enforcement officer and City Council member used KGB-style spying tactics, intimidation, and attempted to force the church to obtain a business license contrary to the law as a means to force the church to relocate;
  • Successfully defended a pastor’s right to speak out on abortion after he was arrested and jailed for four hours simply for holding a sign stating that abortion kills children;
  • Won federal lawsuits in North Carolina and Massachusetts, where public libraries had policies prohibiting Christian viewpoints in the meeting rooms;
  • Continued to represent and advocate for a Massachusetts pastor sued for international crimes against humanity, solely because he shared his Christian viewpoint in Uganda; and many more.  

Again next year, we will advance the equal access rights for after-school Bible clubs in public schools. We often receive reports about the expansion of these clubs and of children growing in their faith as a result.

Great news! Our friends aged 70 ½ or older can now donate to Liberty Counsel directly from an IRA with no adverse tax consequences! The President just signed into law the “Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015.” Among other provisions, this legislation allows donors over 70 1/2 years of age to give up to $100,000 out of their IRAs directly to a charity of their choice! The gift must go directly from the IRA custodian to a charity like Liberty Counsel.
 
If you have an IRA from which you would like to give a gift to Liberty Counsel, instruct your IRA custodian to make a check payable to "Liberty Counsel” and mail it to P.O. Box 540774, Orlando, FL 32854. Because of the new law, donors over 70 ½ years of age will not need to include the distribution in their taxable income for the period in which the gift is given! Those who take advantage of this tax-free opportunity to give directly from an IRA, however, cannot also take a charitable deduction for the amount of the gift.
