This Is Our Arena of Engagement

Dec 27, 2024

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage battle according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. — 2 Corinthians 10:3-4

The Bible often describes the life of someone following Jesus using the imagery of warfare. In fact, spiritual warfare is about recognizing that we have an enemy who wants to destroy us.

Yet the good news is that God gives us every resource to engage in spiritual warfare. He wants us to walk in hope because He has already won the ultimate battle through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Thank you for helping Liberty Counsel engage in the cultural battles for defending religious freedom, the sanctity of human life, and the family.

Here are some examples of how we are fighting on the battlefield:

  • Schoolteachers in Minnesota who refuse to teach the district’s mandatory LGBTQ lessons, including false pronouns and the unscientific idea that one can chose from any number of made-up genders.
  • A Virginia school system that told high school students they could not discuss the Bible in school.
  • A Christian dance studio owner threatened with lawsuits because she will not allow a biological boy who identifies as a girl to dress like a girl and join the girls-only dance troupe.
  • Parents in an Illinois school system that refused to allow them to opt their children out of LGBTQ and anti-Christian lessons.
  • An elderly woman in Florida who was informed by her senior living facility that she would be evicted if she continued to say “God bless you” to residents or staff.
  • A Florida church was denied equal access to facilities because the city’s building department declared that “religious education is not real education.”
  • A North Carolina church whose city council tried to strip its tax exemption because the city claimed the church school, playground, and lawn were not being used for religious purposes.
  • A Veterans Affairs employee who was denied religious accommodation so that he would not have to use a bathroom with women who identify as men.

Also, we are currently fighting the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) that would like to “destroy” us.

SPLC represents Janet Jenkins who is suing Liberty Counsel because we represented Lisa Miller until September 2009. This was the first case in the country involving a Vermont civil union. During the pending appeals, Lisa disappeared with her biological daughter. We informed the courts that we had lost contact with Lisa. Janet is now represented by the SPLC, and they sued many defendants, including Liberty Counsel.

The SPLC’s efforts to “completely destroy” Liberty Counsel have gone on for years, spanning three continents and seven countries. Our legal team has spent more than 10,000 hours reviewing over 186,000 documents and taking 25 depositions that included over 11,000 pages of exhibits and 6,800 pages of transcripts. Then, after engaging in all that time-consuming discovery, Liberty Counsel was forced to expend significant efforts preparing a motion for summary judgment that included a 174-page statement of facts and 142-page legal memorandum, all supported by nearly 6,000 pages of exhibits, plus about 150 pages in our reply arguments. Every person who testified and every document shows Liberty Counsel had nothing to do with Lisa’s disappearance. This SPLC case is about lawfare with an evil intent.

Yet there is not a shred of evidence against Liberty Counsel!

Liberty Counsel can WIN when we show up to the fight. The only limit on confronting every threat is resources. However, your generous gift can bring victory to those who need it most.

Thankfully, generous donors have provided a Year-End Challenge Grant.

That means every dollar you donate between now and the end of the year will be effectively DOUBLED. Your gift of $50 will become $100; $250 will be doubled in impact to $500; $1,000 expands to $2,000 of impact, etc.

Here's how you can help:

  • Make a donation on our website by midnight, December 31, in your time zone.
  • Send a check postmarked by December 31 to Liberty Counsel, PO Box 540774, Orlando, FL 32854.
  • Call in your credit or debit card gift to 407-875-1776 between 8:30 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. ET by December 31.

It is very important that Liberty Counsel meet the full goal of the Year-End Challenge Grant to continue fighting and win more critical battles!

THANK YOU for partnering with Liberty Counsel!
