California Attorney General Xavier Becerra tried for at least the fourth time today to keep you and the rest of the world from knowing what's going on inside the San Francisco courtroom where pro-life hero Sandra Merritt is on trial.

The attorney general filed a motion yesterday asking for a gag order. The judge heard arguments on the motion earlier today but sided with the First Amendment and rejected the AG's request.

Liberty Counsel Chief Litigation Counsel Horatio Mihet called the motion “preposterous and ludicrous.”

A partisan Democrat who has publicly announced he stands with Planned Parenthood, Becerra is prosecuting Sandra on 15 frivolous and politically motivated counts of invasion of privacy.

If convicted, Sandra, now in her 60s, could spend more than a decade behind bars—possibly the rest of her life.

+  +  "Bone-chilling testimony"

"There's no mystery” as to why AG Becerra, who is in league with Planned Parenthood, is seeking a gag order said Horatio Mihet. "The bone-chilling testimony coming out of that courtroom can convince and convict even the most hardened of hearts."

Here's some of what we've learned so far . . .

• A retired late-term abortionist described the unborn baby as a "tough little object" in an undercover video shown in court. The abortionist admitted on the video that she routinely killed the baby in utero with digoxin. Doing so prevented the "delivery of a live fetus," which is "the biggest disaster and it never goes away."

• “Doe 7,” a non-physician and abortionist testified that she provided human organs from the babies she killed at Planned Parenthood on a regular basis.

• “Doe 12,” the CEO of Stem Express admitted that her firm sends hearts and intact fetal heads to medical researchers.

• "Doe 9," formerly a Planned Parenthood abortionist, said the undercover videos of her with Sandra and David were accurate.

• Doe 9 discusses in one undercover video how ultrasound guidance is used to turn the baby in the womb, so its feet come out first and the head emerges intact, making it suitable for brain harvesting. “We’ve been pretty successful with that, I’d say,” she says on the video. But when questioned in court about it, Doe 9 grew annoyed and refused to give a direct answer as to the meaning of her words.

+  +  Bombshell yesterday

Just yesterday we learned for the first time that then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch wrote a letter asking then-California Attorney General Kamala Harris to prosecute Sandra and her colleague David Daleiden.

This stunning revelation is one more indicator of the base political motivation behind California's unjust prosecution of Sandra.

Her “crime,” of course, was exercising her First Amendment Freedom as an undercover journalist to expose Planned Parenthood’s heinous commerce in human organs harvested from the little boys and girls it kills.

No other journalist in California has ever been prosecuted for doing undercover journalism. This is a selective and discriminatory prosecution. And it’s happening because Becerra, who has taken in thousands in Planned Parenthood campaign donations, is the abortion chain’s puppet.

+  +  Planned Parenthood on trial

“Planned Parenthood thought they were going to put Sandra Merritt and the other codefendants on trial,” said Liberty Counsel attorney Horatio Mihet.

“It's actually Planned Parenthood that's going on trial. This hearing is bringing these undercover videos back to light. It’s showing the gruesome things, the unlawful things, that Planned Parenthood did behind closed doors.”

The battle will only escalate in the weeks ahead. That's because Planned Parenthood's civil lawsuit is set to begin on October 2. It will last four-six weeks.
