Tense Moments in Court

Oct 10, 2019

The federal judge presiding over Planned Parenthood's lawsuit demanding millions from Sandra Merritt won’t allow jurors to watch the videos exposing the abortion giant's gruesome and potentially illegal commerce in baby body parts. Instead, he has imposed severe restrictions on what evidence Liberty Counsel can show in court.

And that has led to some tense moments at trial. Worse, I have shocking evidence showing his link to Planned Parenthood. I explain below.

We're in day four of the trial, which may stretch into eight weeks. Because of its length, complexity and location in pricey San Francisco, this is the most expensive legal conflict in Liberty Counsel’s history.

And that’s why I ask for your support now.

Your much-needed gift will make a huge difference for Sandra as we fight Planned Parenthood's vicious assault intended to bankrupt her and crush her First Amendment freedoms. Please be as generous as you can!

You'll be shocked and outraged by what the judge won't let into evidence, as I share below. --Mat

It was a simple question—one intended to show what propelled pro-life hero Sandra Merritt’s undercover investigation exposing Planned Parenthood gruesome trafficking in human organs harvested from precious infants—some still alive.

But that simple question sparked a courtroom confrontation.

When Sandra took the stand Friday, Liberty Counsel lead attorney Harry Mihet asked what she learned from organ procurement technician Holly O’Donnell’s sensational eye-witness testimony.

But before Sandra answered, U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick broke in, ordered the 12-member jury to leave the courtroom, and told Mihet to drop that line of questioning.

+  +  Searing testimony censored from courtroom

Here's what Judge Orrick didn't want jurors to hear...

Holly O’Donnell, now deceased, formerly worked for StemExpress, a for-profit organ procurement firm. She told Sandra’s colleague, David Daleiden, on video that she witnessed a nearly intact late-term aborted baby lying on a table at a Planned Parenthood facility.

She watched in horror when a coworker took an instrument and, O’Donnell recalled, “she just taps the heart and it starts beating.”

“I don’t know if that constitutes it’s technically dead, or it’s alive,” O’Donnell added.

Then the coworker told O’Donnell to harvest the infant’s brain. She showed O’Donnell how to slice the child’s face with a scissors, starting at the chin, so she could extract the brain tissue.

“I can’t even describe what that feels like,” O’Donnell said.

But the judge refused to let the jurors hear that eye-witness report.

“We’re not going into the truth of abortion procedures. I’ve excluded that,” he instructed Mihet. “We’re not going into the many disputes that the parties have outside of this.”

The judge also stopped Sandra when she started to discuss learning that beating hearts are cut from living babies for researchers—which she called “horrific.”

But Judge Orrick cut her off.

+  +  Judge linked to Planned Parenthood

Judge Orrick, by the way, is linked to Planned Parenthood. He helped launch, run and fund a Planned Parenthood facility that shares space with a family resource center he founded.

And Orrick’s wife attacked Sandra’s colleague, David Daleiden, on Facebook, accusing him of “domestic terrorism” for exposing Planned Parenthood on video.

Despite this clear evidence of bias, which puts his impartiality very much in doubt, the judge rejected a motion asking him to recuse himself from the case.

And that’s yet another reason why your prayers and financial partnership are so needed.

The law and the facts are on Sandra’s side in this case—but we’re up against abortion giant Planned Parenthood in San Francisco with a judge who appears to be biased and have his thumb on the scale.

That's why, without God's help—and the support of friends like you—Sandra doesn't stand a chance.

+  +  Abortion behemoth out to crush Sandra

Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain, is out to crush Sandra’s First Amendment rights and utterly bankrupt her.

It has dozens of attorneys working around the clock in a furious attempt to punish Sandra and send a stern message to anyone else following in her footsteps.

That's why I ask for your financial support.

This is the most expensive case in Liberty Counsel’s history. The trial, with more than 60 witnesses, could go up to eight weeks. That means huge bills for hotel accommodations, airfare, food, court transcripts and more.

The cost for court exhibits alone will soar into the tens of thousands. All told, this trial’s expense will go well into the high six figures.

Please pray and stand with Sandra now with your gift. Humanly speaking, the odds are long . . . but with God, all things are possible!

And your support now will make a real difference.

Thank you for your friendship and for standing with Sandra to defend her from this vicious and unjust attack!

For life and liberty,
