On Independence Day weekend, the state of Colorado issued a cease and desist order to one of the largest Gospel and healing ministries in the world – Andrew Wommack Ministries, International (AWMI).

AWMI was right in the middle of a three-day Summer Family Bible Conference when the letter from the state attorney general was served, demanding the renowned preacher immediately stop all services and force all conference attendees to leave the property.

Citing God's Word and the United States Constitution, Pastor Wommack refused. Instead, he contacted Liberty Counsel for help.

For over 30 years, Liberty Counsel has faithfully defended religious liberty. During the COVID-19 panic, Liberty Counsel once again took the lead, this time in defending pastors and churches from the unconstitutional edicts of governors and local officials. To date, we have counseled thousands of churches as they navigate unlawfully restrictive orders.

But Pastor Wommack's decision to have Liberty Counsel represent his worldwide ministry goes deeper than just our record of winning religious liberty cases. In fact, the connection is far more personal because AWMI played a significant role in healing someone within the Liberty Counsel Ministry family.

When John (name changed for privacy) came back from special operations military service in the middle east, he was a shell of the young man he had once been. Three tours in Afghanistan, brain injury, PTSD and survivors' guilt left scars on John's heart that he just could not shake. The transition from life at war to life at home did not go well.

But Andrew Wommack Ministries gave John his first job after leaving the military, and what a blessing that turned out to be! AWMI not only gave John a job, but surrounded him with encouragement, hope and the love of Christ.

Two years later and John is a different man according to his father, a long- time Liberty Counsel pastor. The spiritual stability and strength he desperately needed to heal his physical and emotional wounds was filled, in large part, by Andrew Wommack Ministries.

No mere man can stop the will or Word of God...but that has not stopped several governors (all Democrat and all pro-abortion) from trying.

Sadly, it wasn't terribly surprising to see anti-Christian governors picking on small and medium-sized churches. But now the secular Democrats in Colorado have decided to oppress one of the largest ministries in the world.

Under the pretext of COVID safety, CO Gov. Jared Polis and his attorney general demanded Andrew Wommack shut down his ministry, even as that very same governor encouraged the mass protests and riots happening across the country and in Colorado itself.
