America's religious freedom has enabled the Gospel of Jesus Christ to spread throughout the world. America's Founders believed that the unalienable right to religious freedom is afforded to all people everywhere. America explicitly rejected the idea of a state-controlled religion.

But now, a handful of pro-abortion, anti-church Democrat governors are issuing new restrictions that impact domestic houses of worship and the worldwide church and large international ministries, including missions.

Liberty Counsel represents large and small churches, from the small Lighthouse Fellowship Church in Virginia to huge international ministries that reach hundreds of millions of people.

In addition to the restrictions on these churches, mission-sending ministries have been impacted. Missionaries have been called back to America, and the mission training conferences and commissioning services have essentially ceased. That means these missionaries are not on the mission fields.

Liberty Counsel has been leading the way defending the pastors and churches that have been illegally and unconstitutionally arrested, restricted, criminally charged or outright closed for obeying the Scriptures. We also developed ReOpenChurch.org, helping thousands of churches nationwide navigate the myriad illegal and often contradictory church closure orders dictated by anti-freedom governors and local officials.

Beyond the website, we are also personally advising several thousand pastors from churches in nearly every state. And of course, we have five federal lawsuits pending and expect one or more of our cases will be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. We must ensure that worship, including in-home Bible studies and fellowship, are not made illegal.

As I said, these restrictions are impacting domestic houses of worship and the worldwide church and large international ministries. This poses a significant risk to the global church.

The River at Tampa Bay Church of Tampa, FL, is led by a pastor who emigrated to America from South Africa. This pastor was the first in the United States to be arrested for opening his church during COVID. By God’s grace, Liberty Counsel was able to get all charges against the pastor dropped. This ministry reaches over 24 million people worldwide.

Harvest Church and Harvest International Ministries represent 162 churches in California and over 65,000 affiliate churches worldwide. Last Saturday, Liberty Counsel filed suit on their behalf against CA Gov. Gavin Newsom’s illegal church restrictions. The governor has banned all religious worship in most of California, including home Bible studies and fellowships.

For 30 years, Andrew Wommack Ministries International has produced books, television and the daily Gospel Truth radio program. AWMI has reached over 1 billion people worldwide. Liberty Counsel is representing AWMI against CO Gov. Jared Polis’ illegal church restrictions.

These ministries alone reach well over 1 billion people around the globe. If these ministries are silenced here at their source in the United States, many hundreds of millions of people worldwide could be affected.

Every mission-sending ministry has also been affected. I personally know many missionaries who were either called back to the U.S. or who have not been deployed.

We are witnessing a global assault against the church. We are blessed to work with churches that have no internet to those which have a worldwide media presence and operation.

Think about the fact that in California, it is illegal to go to a neighbor or a friend to pray and anoint with oil – even though they are experiencing a dark time, sickness or even death. My friends, this is wrong and cannot stand!
