Singing to the Lord is mentioned many times throughout the Bible and in some places the Bible commands us to sing praises unto the Lord. These are not mere suggestions, but direct commands from the Holy Scriptures. For example:

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God." Col. 3:16

Nowhere in the Bible, or in our Constitution for that matter, are exceptions to be made — not for a virus and certainly not for tyrannical, power-grabbing officials (of which the Bible documents many examples).

But that has not stopped CA Gov. Gavin Newsom from trying to silence God's people.

On March 19, 2020, Governor Newsom issued an Executive Order and Public Health Order that "directed all Californians to stay home except to go to an essential job or to shop for essential needs," which included a total prohibition on religious worship services.

California's out-of-control governor specified that his edict was to be observed regardless of the number attending a church service or whether social distancing and personal hygiene practices were followed — including in-home worship services! California's governor does not consider religious services "essential," so people cannot leave their homes to go to church or to other homes for a Bible study.

On July 6, 2020, Gov. Newsom issued yet another revised "Worship Guidance" document which states, "Places of worship must therefore discontinue singing and chanting and limit indoor attendance to 25% of building capacity or a maximum of 100 attendees."

On July 13, 2020, Gov. Newsom announced that ALL places of worship services must be closed, including home Bible study and fellowship meetings. So far, this total ban applies to 32 counties – which encompass 80% of the California population. The remaining counties can meet in small numbers (until Newsom expands the list) but cannot sing or chant.

Don't Let the Church Be Silenced!

All this, even as Gov. Newsom continues to praise and encourage the protests, riots and Marxist insurrections that have attempted to burn Los Angeles and other cities and tear our nation apart at the seams.

The governor may not consider churches and worship to be essential, but houses of worship are essential! The Word of our Lord commands us to gather together and worship His Holy Name.

The First Amendment prohibits any government official, even King Newsom, from dictating the manner and form of our worship and obviously prohibits the state from banning worship.

If we allow Gov. Newsom and his fellow anti-faith governors to get away with overt assaults on our freedom and the Constitution, a precedent will be set and the attacks will only grow stronger. If we do not stop this unbelievable tyranny NOW, Americans' right to religious freedom could be lost forever!

That is why Liberty Counsel filed a federal lawsuit against CA Gov. Newsom on behalf of Harvest Rock Church and Harvest International Ministry. These pastors have read both the Bible and the Constitution... and they will NOT tolerate the destruction of their God-given, unalienable rights.
