Silence Is Not an Option

Pastors, churches and parishioners in California are now being threatened with daily criminal charges and fines for worshiping in church and at home. This should never happen in America. And there’s no more saying you can worship in your home in lieu of attending church. Not in California! There are no more excuses to quietly accept these unconstitutional restrictions. There comes a time when everyone must decide upon which principles to stand.
The pastors, staff, and parishioners of Harvest Rock Church in Pasadena, CA, had to make that decision this past weekend.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom had already banned worship, even in-home Bible studies. Before he banned worship on July 13, he told churches they should also remove Bibles lest somebody touch them.

Last week, Harvest Rock Church Sr. Pastor Ché Ahn received a shocking official letter from the City of Pasadena Prosecutor’s office, informing the pastor that he, along with all staff and attendees of Harvest Rock, would be arrested and criminally charged should they worship in the church.

The letter went on to inform Pastor Ahn that if arrested, the pastor, staff and every single attendee could be facing one year in jail and $1,000 per day fines for every day the church remained open. In order words, not only daily fines, but daily criminal charges!

Neither Pastor Ahn, nor his staff nor his flock wavered. Their church was open on Sunday and other Californians came to support the brave Christians willing to sacrifice their physical freedom in order to preserve everyone’s freedom to worship without government interference.

Of all the states, California is certainly the worst abuser of Christians these days, but Gov. Gavin Newsom is not alone in his tyranny. In addition to our federal lawsuit against the Golden State Governor, we also have four other federal lawsuits pending against the Governors of Maine, Virginia, Kentucky, and Illinois.

In each of these states, churches have been forced closed or severely restricted, pastors have been criminally charged, churchgoers have been threatened with criminal charges and some have been put on the equivalent of house arrest...all for opening and/or attending church.

The faithful Christians Liberty Counsel is representing will not falter, nor will they fall silent and simply obey the anti-Christian edicts dictated by godless governors. These brave Christians REFUSE to be silenced because they understand that in this season SILENCE IS NOT AN OPTION.

America’s Judeo-Christian values, along with our First Amendment RIGHT to worship freely and without interference or obstruction, are being STOLEN right from under us. If we falter now, if we fail to stand during this time, it is possible our freedom will be greatly diminished.

And this year, of all years, the stakes are simply too high.
