I recently spoke with one of our clients, Dr. Rodney Howard-Browne of The River at Tampa Bay Church. Pastor Rodney was the first pastor arrested for having worship in the church the last Sunday in March. As a result of this arrest, FL Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an order declaring attendance at churches and houses of worship essential activity, thus lifting all restrictions on churches. We then got the criminal charges dropped.

By the way, in addition to indoor worship, Pastor Rodney began outdoor evening worship on Pentecost (last Sunday in May) that has been ongoing for over 180 days, four hours each day! The Stand has now spawned a worldwide movement.

As Pastor Rodney and I spoke, important news came in regarding our church cases in California and Colorado. I could not help but be reminded of Matthew 16:18...

Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus told us that “...the gates of hell shall not prevail” against his church... and those gates are being kicked down!

As you know, Liberty Counsel is defending pastors and churches illegally oppressed by lawless governors more interested in control than the Constitution. We have state and federal lawsuits pending against the governors of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Virginia and Maine disputing their attempts to shutter God’s churches and silence God’s people.

We have now been to the Supreme Court four times on behalf of churches – with another major filing last week. In each of these cases, the pastors, churches and even the parishioners themselves face years in jail and thousands of dollars in fines for simply exercising their First Amendment RIGHT to worship.

But now the gates of hell are being broken down through some crucial pro-liberty victories in the judicial system!

Many governors remain drunk with power and are not willingly letting the captives go free. With the Supreme Court win, our workload has dramatically increased. Now we have to go back to the courts to apply our victory.

We achieved a very significant victory when the Supreme Court ruled in favor of New York churches and synagogues on Thanksgiving Eve. Then, a week later, the Court ruled in favor of our CA case with Harvest Rock Church and Harvest International Ministry. Yet, when we returned to the lower court, the Obama-appointed judge refused to follow the Supreme Court’s roadmap. That is why we had to immediately return to the High Court.

Our cases representing Romanian churches in Illinois and Harvest Rock Church of California are before the High Court, and we anticipate the Court will rule soon. In the meantime, our widespread litigation continues to knock down barriers against churches and worship. For example...

CHURCH ATTENDANCE IS LEGAL IN COLORADO AGAIN!

CO Gov. Jared Polis wisely read the proverbial handwriting on the wall and has decided to abandon his unconstitutional stance on church attendance restrictions. Citing both the NY case and our California case, Gov. Polis just issued an Executive Order FREEING Colorado houses of worship from the illegal attendance cap limits! Now we must return to the court to end this oppression against our client - Andrew Wommack Ministries.

This is not only a win for our clients, Andrew Wommack Ministries and Charis Bible College, but for ALL Colorado Christians and houses of worship.

I believe this move by CO Gov. Polis is the first in a series of dominoes that will fall, eventually crushing the gates of hell that tried to shutter our churches and silence Christians and Jews!

We thank God and rejoice at these favorable rulings and their impact! Yet in many ways, these victories create even more work for Liberty Counsel. It’s as though we now have the keys to the adversary’s jail and now must set about the lengthy task of freeing the captives nationwide from the clutches of these lawless governors. Make no mistake, these governors won’t freely give back the power they stole, and some judges still can’t (refuse to) read the Supreme Court’s clear roadmap.

We must now refile in states like Virginia and several others whose governors are busy trying to lock their states down yet again and continue preventing Christians from exercising their religious freedom.

We are still getting urgent calls from pastors and churches facing existing or new lockdown decrees who need our help to free their congregations to worship as their consciences see fit, not as their tyrannical governors demand.

At the same time, we are also involved in the election disputes. I believe the evidence of fraud is sickening, and we must address it now.
