In California, “essential” businesses have never shut down. Non-essential businesses have now opened, but worship is still banned. The most severe worship restriction in America. . .

Here is the shocking timeline of California’s ban on indoor worship:

- March 19 – May 25: No Worship

- May 26 – July 12: no more than 100 people

- July 13 – Present: No worship

Except for 48 days during which worship was capped at 100 people, this NO WORSHIP ban has been in place for 319 days as of today!

Right now, in California you can get a tattoo, an abortion, or buy a shopping basket full of alcoholic beverages, but you still cannot go to church.

Californians can go to a mall, but they cannot have a Bible study with friends in their home. And while the Hollywood film industry has been deemed “essential,” churches have not.

As you know, Liberty Counsel is defending Pastor Ché Ahn, Harvest Rock Church and scores of affiliate churches in California that are part of Harvest International Ministry. Last Friday night, we filed our Reply Brief at the Supreme Court. We could receive a ruling any day.

As part of the filings, the Supreme Court now knows that Gov. Newsom intentionally withheld information from the public and inflated the COVID numbers to justify continuing his lockdowns. His Attorney General also made false statements to the courts about the public health data.

California has the worst church restrictions in the entire country. Any pastor, staff member or churchgoer who violates the No Worship ban faces $1,000 per day and one year in jail per incident for opening or attending church.

Yet, the State of California exempted hundreds of “essential” secular activities in a 29-page single-spaced document. And now, California is even allowing “non-essential” businesses to open.

But California still will not allow churches to open.

Throughout our months-long series of court battles, the State of California has never offered scientific evidence that closing churches stops COVID. Yet, plenty of scientific data has come to light that destroys California’s claims and actions.

Recently, infectious disease experts analyzed 1 million Catholic masses conducted nationwide. The scientists concluded that when church safety protocols were followed, there was not a single documented case of COVID linked to church attendance. In fact, among our many CA church clients, there is not one example of an outbreak.

Last month, in an unrelated case, a judge ordered Los Angeles County to submit the data it used to justify its restaurant/dining closure order. L.A. County was forced to admit in court that there was no such data!

The Constitution and the law are clear – government may not force a person to stay away from church against his will.

But CA Gov. Gavin Newsom, and a handful of other radical governors, still believe they are above the law and can do what they please. And as lawless governors continue to illegally close churches, some members of Congress now seek to illegally impeach a private citizen.

The core issue of the church closures is the same issue at the heart of the unconstitutional impeachment -- lawlessness.

Congress ONLY has the authority to impeach a president while in office. Congress has NO power to impeach or hold a trial to convict a private citizen. Chief Justice John Roberts knows this and that is why he has refused to preside over the Senate "impeachment" sham. Instead, in a banana republic-like move, Democrat Sen. Patrick Leahy will preside over the trial as both judge and juror!

It’s time for Congress to admit what nearly all of America can see plainly. The impeachment trial of Donald. J. Trump is nothing more than a vindictive political punishment -- and it’s unconstitutional.
