Firing Hurricane Hero Over Christian Faith

Oct 6, 2022

Joe Biden personally thanked Zach Loesch this week for the lives he saved from the destruction of Hurricane Ian. But that’s not stopping Biden from firing Zach over his deeply held religious beliefs.

Read on to learn why this brave member of the Coast Guard is being fired despite rescuing more than a dozen hurricane survivors last week, and how YOU can help right this horrible wrong.

Liberty Counsel is defending members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Marines and Coast Guard from Joe Biden’s blatant religious discrimination. We need YOUR help to replenish our legal war chest as we continue our lawsuits against the Biden administration. Every donation made today will be DOUBLED IN IMPACT by a generous Challenge Grant. Help us keep religious freedom alive for every American. —Mat

The storm had not hit the Florida coast yet when Coast Guard rescue swimmer Zach Loesch reported for duty. What just days before had been a Category 1 hurricane was rapidly developing into a monstrous Category 4 storm with a 155-mph punch, only 2 mph under a Cat 5.

By Thursday morning, the southwestern coast of Florida was decimated. Large swaths of the area were only accessible by helicopter. Flood waters had swallowed city centers and subdivisions alike, masking the almost unbelievable destruction as parts of businesses, homes and household goods floated with the currents of swollen streams and rivers. Washers, dryers, rooftops, cars and boats bobbed on the turbulent waters.

Danger was everywhere.

The force of the storm was such that entire houses were moved off their foundations, pushing buildings onto what were once streets. Other homes were demolished entirely. Many residents who were unable to escape the storm were found clinging to life in collapsing buildings whose roofs had been blown off and whose lower floors were filled with water.

Adding to the danger, electrical fires broke out, casting an eerie sight of housetops engulfed in flames with lower levels filled with flood waters.

Zach Loesch lives for this kind of challenge. He joined the Coast Guard to save lives, and that is exactly what he did during and after Hurricane Ian.

Even before the storm passed, Zach and his fellow Guard members were deployed to rescue injured and stranded residents. Zach’s team saved 15 people the first day. One disabled couple was so helplessly trapped in their rapidly collapsing home that Zach had to kick through a wall to rescue them.

Joe Biden somehow learned of Zach’s heroism and made a point of publicly praising his selfless service on September 30.

But Joe Biden is still FIRING this hero on October 30 because of Zach’s deeply held Christian faith!

Members of the U.S. military have the legal RIGHT to refuse the COVID shots without penalty as codified by the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) of 1993. But instead of receiving their rightful protections, military heroes like Zach are effectively being told “Thank you for your service; now, get out.”

Like thousands of other military members, Zach refused to take the COVID jabs for religious reasons. When Biden issued his shot mandates, Zach responded by filing a Religious Accommodation Request (RAR). By law, that request should have been approved. It was not. Zach appealed. His appeal was unlawfully denied.

The hero Biden heralded just days ago now has less than three weeks to continue helping people before Biden kicks him out of the Coast Guard.

“If I had asked any of the people I saved yesterday if they wanted to come with me even though I am unvaccinated, every single one of them would have said ‘yes,’” Zach said. “It just sucks that he thanked me, yet his vaccine mandate is what’s kicking me out.”

Joe Biden is running anyone out of the military who refuses to bow to his unlawful orders. We need YOUR help to stop him.

As of September 2022, there are 2,632 Coast Guard members who have refused to take the COVID jabs. Despite a massive recruiting shortage announced by the Coast Guard’s command structure in August, each of these 2,632 guardsmen, including Zach, will be released from service IF we do not get a classwide injunction.

This completely avoidable shortage will put a stranglehold on Coast Guard rescue operations upon which Americans and others depend. And Zach’s job will not be easily filled as few candidates can pass the rigid training requirements. It takes years to achieve his level of competence.

Further, the shot mandates are not only unlawful, but science is proving the COVID shots to be extremely dangerous and ineffective.

So far, there are class certification and injunctions protecting religious exemption requesters in the Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Marines. We expect to secure class certification and preliminary injunctions protecting the Army and Coast Guard soon. I will update you as I can.

Are you tired of this mindless tyranny? I know I am, and that is one reason Liberty Counsel is fighting so hard to restore religious liberty. This class action lawsuit will determine not only whether U.S. service members retain their rights, it may also determine whether you and I will be able to keep our unalienable religious freedom!

We need your ongoing help. Liberty Counsel has successfully fought the COVID tyranny since March 2020.

This is a David and Goliath moment in which I am specifically asking you to help fill our slingshot with stones to defeat this giant.

Help us help our military service heroes like Zach.

Consider making a recurring monthly gift to support religious freedom. Our generous Challenge Grant will DOUBLE THE IMPACT of your donation.
