During his confirmation hearing in March 2021, Joe Biden’s secretary of defense, Lloyd Austin, said he would “purge” the military. Identifying the religious faithful and discharging them under Biden’s illegal shot mandate is apparently one way he intends to accomplish that purge.

Last week, despite numerous court orders restraining the Biden administration from acting against religious members of several other service branches, the Coast Guard unlawfully booted hundreds of religious adherents who refused to relinquish their religious freedom rights.

As our class action plaintiffs demonstrate, Biden and Austin are trying to run anyone out of the military who answers to a higher power. It is religious discrimination designed to purge the faithful, and Liberty Counsel is fighting to stop it. Read on. —Mat

Zaid* is a Muslim who, like his Christian fellow service members, believes life is a precious gift. His faith condemns the killing of children. Zaid quotes the Quran saying, “Do not kill your children for fear of poverty … surely to kill them is a great wrong.”

Abortion is considered “haram” (forbidden) in Islam. As a Muslim, Zaid may not participate in abortion, which includes the commercial use of human fetal cell lines derived from abortions.

Levi* is an observant Jew. Like Zaid, he also believes abortion is a heinous crime against God’s great design.

Joleen* is a Catholic who agrees with the late Pope John Paul II that abortion “constitutes a grave moral disorder, since it is the deliberate killing of an innocent human being.”

Mary* was raised an atheist but became an evangelical Christian after suffering a traumatic rape and ensuing abortion. Her Christian faith and her personal experience taught her that abortion is a soul-crushing evil.

Ted* belongs to a small nondenominational church that also forbids abortion. In addition, Ted’s faith forbids taking any drug, like the mRNA COVID drugs, which alters the unique body God gave each person.

Despite coming from different religious backgrounds and faiths, these service members agree that abortion is sin, and they will not defile their bodies with shots using aborted fetal cells in testing and/or development.

Regardless of their differences in doctrine, each of these service members has a constitutionally protected, federally codified RIGHT to religious freedom. The Biden administration acts as if it is above the law. No one is above the law, and we intend to force the administration to obey the law.

Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Evangelical and nondenominational Christian—Liberty Counsel is representing all the faithful in our massive lawsuit against the Biden administration.

Each of these brave men and women met with their respective chaplains and dutifully submitted their religious accommodation requests to the COVID jab. But they were denied.

Joe Biden and the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security are firing religious adherents before a court can stop them.

So far, there are class certification injunctions protecting religious exemption requesters in the Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Marines. We are pressing forward to protect the Coast Guard and Army.

Yet despite the clear guidance of the courts, a court of appeals hearing scheduled for December and an upcoming trial in January, the Coast Guard unlawfully booted hundreds of religious adherents on October 20 because they refused to relinquish their religious freedom rights.

Remaining Coast Guard members—including Zach Loesch, the rescue diver Joe Biden personally thanked for heroism in the wake of Hurricane Ian—expects to be discharged on October 30 ... unless we obtain an injunction.

I am deeply moved by the plight of our military members and their families. I wish I could convey the stress they face daily, and the abuse inflicted upon them. We are committed to defending the defenders of our freedom. We will not rest until we obtain justice!

Religious freedom is an inalienable right.
