Kierra* was just 13 years old when she told a local clinic she wished she were a boy. Ten years of fake hormones and a double mastectomy later, Kierra is stuck with a medically disfigured body and stunted sex organs—because no one was there to counsel her against sex reassignment surgery. Now, at the age of 23, Kierra would give anything to turn back time.
Liberty Counsel cannot turn back time for Kierra, but we can fight for kids like her in court, so they are not harmed by the LGBTQ propaganda. This year, Liberty Counsel won the first free speech victory in the nation striking down bans on Christian counseling for children struggling with gender confusion and unwanted same-sex attractions and behaviors.
As a result, counselors in Florida, Georgia and Alabama are now free to help their minor clients. But 80 other cities and states still ban this Christian counseling. Read on to learn more about Kierra and what Liberty Counsel is doing to help. — Mat

Kierra* says that she was far too young to fully comprehend what she was asking for. A lifetime tomboy who didn’t fit in with her classmates at school, Kierra says she sought help from a local clinic that claimed to specialize in “gender confusion.” After just three short appointments, and not a single word of discouragement or admonishment from the doctors and clinic personnel, Kierra was railroaded down a path that would forever change her life and appearance for the worse.
About 80 U.S. cities and states still have laws banning these precious young people of life and natural gender-affirming, Bible-based Christian counseling. If Kierra had been allowed such counseling before puberty blockers were prescribed, or surgeries performed, she might not be stuck in this terrifying new reality.
That’s why Liberty Counsel is defending the right of patients young and old, patients just like Kierra, to voluntarily receive “the other side of the story”—not just what the Bible has to say about gender and sex, but also what science has to say about “gender reassignment.” Unfortunately, in the 80 cities and states in question, science is shoved to the side in favor of a radical LGBTQ agenda that preys on the vulnerabilities and passing feelings common to many pubescent children.
Scientific studies show that more than 80-plus percent of all “gender confused” children grow out of their confusion and go on to lead healthy, happy lives as the person whom God made. Furthermore, science tells us that suicide rates among people who have undergone “sex reassignment” are exponentially higher than both the general public and “gay” individuals. But radical LGBTQ activists don’t want silly things like facts or science to get in the way of their deadly agenda—so they want to ban them.
Our case, Otto v. City of Boca Raton and Palm Beach County, was crucial for protecting the life and health of people suffering from gender dysphoria. But even more importantly, the Otto case was about protecting the right of patients to seek Bible-based Christian counseling for their children.
In reality, bans on “change counseling” also ban Christian counseling. And NO government should EVER be able to tell a citizen that they cannot seek counseling that aligns with their religious beliefs.
Praise God, WE WON Otto with a court ruling overturning the bans on Christian counseling in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. However, nearly 80 other cities and states continue to ban this lifesaving Christian counseling.
There is hope and help for those who suffer—as long as we fight to keep it legal. We need YOUR HELP to continue the fight for life and liberty.
This has been the one of the most significant and expensive years in Liberty Counsel history. The attacks on religious freedom, on the family and on helpless babies are coming more frequently and more viciously.
Thankfully, a generous Challenge Grant will DOUBLE THE IMPACT of every donation made by 11:59 p.m., December 31, in your time zone. Please give generously today so that we can continue to fight for kids like Kierra!
