I was shocked to read that Liberty Counsel is on a list that the Biden administration sent to banks to pressure them to close our accounts. This stunning revelation was exposed during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.

The House Judiciary Committee report shows that the federal government is pressuring banks and financial institutions to SPY on and deny services to anyone listed on the SPLC’s deceitful “hate list” — that includes our client, the Dustin Inman Society, as well as Liberty Counsel. After 16-year-old Dustin Inman was killed by an illegal alien, the Dustin Inman Society (DIS) was formed by Donald “D.A.” King to “end illegal immigration, illegal employment, and the illegal administration and granting of Public Benefits and services through the equal application of existing laws” in the state of Georgia.

Not long after, the SPLC designated the DIS as an “anti-immigrant hate group” in its annual Intelligence Report published in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, and classified it as a “hate group” in its annual Intelligence Report and Hate Maps published in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The SPLC also stated that D.A. King “focuses on vilifying all immigrants.” Nothing could be further from the truth.

At the 2007 Michigan Alliance Against Hate Crimes Conference, Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) Senior Fellow Mark Potok told the audience how the group battles their political enemies: “We try and tackle these groups. Let me say that our aim, and sometimes the press describes us as monitoring hate groups. I want to say plainly that our aim in life is to destroy these groups, to completely destroy them.”

Over the years, the SPLC “hate list” has been used in numerous ways to attack conservative organizations. In 2012, a deranged man attempted a mass shooting at the Family Research Council because the FRC was listed on the “hate list.”

In 2017, another deranged man used the SPLC’s hate list to target conservative Republicans at a congressional baseball practice, wounding four and nearly killing Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA).

Now that same SPLC “hate list” that triggered violent attacks on conservatives is being used by the Biden administration as an excuse to conduct warrantless (and therefore unlawful) financial surveillance on the groups listed, as well as to encourage banks to deny services to organizations listed on the SPLC’s hate list.

This is wrong and must stop.

In the early weeks of January 2021, the U.S. government delivered a list of SPLC’s “hate groups” to U.S. banks. According to a March 4, 2024, report by the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, “Federal law enforcement asked financial institutions to conduct sweeping searches of individuals not suspected of committing any crimes.”

In addition to our client, the FBI also specifically listed Liberty Counsel as one of the conservative organizations to target because the SPLC has also listed falsely listed Liberty Counsel as a “hate group.”

If the SPLC and Joe Biden get their way, no law-abiding conservative organization named on that list will be allowed to have bank accounts. That includes Liberty Counsel.

Who is really running this White House anyway?

Team Biden’s actions are a throwback to Barack Obama’s disastrous “Operation Choke Point” which sought to have any organization which disagreed with Obama’s progressive policies denied banking services.

As a result, during the Obama administration, Second Amendment-supporting organizations, as well as legally licensed and lawfully operating gun shops and ammunition dealers, suddenly found that their banks had closed their accounts, and that their credit card processing services had been stopped.

In some cases, it took months for these businesses to force the credit card companies to deliver customer credit card payments to which the organizations and shops were legally entitled. Others found they had to pay exorbitant new rates through “high risk” bankers or in many cases, close up shop all together as a result of Obama’s purge.

Former President Donald Trump ended Obama’s unlawful mandate. However, Joe Biden “paused” the Trump era rule within days of entering the Oval Office ... putting organizations like the Dustin Inman Society — and Liberty Counsel — at extreme risk of losing our ability to hold a bank account, all because a profiteering organization chose to fundraise off LIES accusing honest, law-abiding organizations like DIS and LC of being “hate groups” akin to the Nazi Party and the Ku Klux Klan.

For far too long, the SPLC has been allowed to destroy people and organizations with its false “hate” label.

We cannot allow the SPLC to continue acting as the point man for Obama and Biden’s progressive hit list, which seeks to, using the Obama administration’s own moniker, “choke” out conservative organizations.

Through its “hate list,” the SPLC is engaging in more than slander and libel — they are actively engaged in tortious interference, attempting to prevent the progressive left’s political enemies from engaging in any business at all.

“The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways” (Deut. 28:7).
