Chloe Cole stood outside the U.S. Supreme Court last Wednesday bundled up in a heavy coat and scarf, her mittened hands folded in prayer. The Court was hearing oral arguments in United States v. Skrmetti, a case that involves a Tennessee law that bans experimental and harmful puberty blockers, hormones, and mutilating surgeries on minors.
Since 2012, Liberty Counsel has led the fight to protect Christian counselors and their clients and to protect children from the abusive LGBTQ agenda. We filed a brief in this case urging the Court to side with Tennessee and protect children. Twenty-six states now have similar laws, but the ACLU and Planned Parenthood are trying to take them down. We won’t let that happen.

The 19-year-old advocate was praying the Court would protect children from the harms that the so-called “transgender” ideology wrought on her young body only a handful of years ago.
You may remember Chloe. I’ve written about this brave young woman many times. Depressed, struggling with puberty, and on the Autism spectrum, mental health counselors talked Chloe’s parents into putting the girl on puberty blockers and hormones and then receiving surgery.
“This medical ideology was something that consumed most of my adolescent formative years,” says Chloe. “I lost parts of my body. I was on puberty blockers at age 13, cross-sex hormone injections, and underwent a double mastectomy to remove my breasts when I wasn’t even old enough yet to drive a vehicle.”
Only after Chloe’s breasts were removed did she and her parents realize they had been misled down a devastating road. Now age 19, Chloe lives as her God-given female gender and is now a fierce advocate for “rights of children to grow up with their bodies fully intact.”
Studies show that the vast majority of children who experience body and gender dysphoria grow out of those confused feelings.
Puberty can be a confusing time for many young people, but particularly for Generation Z. Surveys show that 22.3% of Gen Z (children born between 1997 – 2012) identify as “transgendered.” Only 2.3% of their grandparents (the Boomer generation born between 1946-1964) identify as such. I personally think the percentage was even much lower.
“Historically we used to allow these children who are uncomfortable with their sex or confused about it to just grow up with no intervention,” says Chloe. “Most grow out of it and learn how to acclimate with their bodies, with their identities as their God-given sex.”
But Gen Z has a differentiating factor — social media and cable television brainwashing fomented by the radical LGBTQ mafia seeking to normalize their abnormal behaviors, and a multi-billion dollar surgical and pharmaceutical industry determined to rake in cash by mutilating children.
But there is another major factor, says Chloe, and I wholeheartedly agree — the lack of community that used to be found in faith and religion.
“In my generation there is a massive identity crisis stemming from multiple factors including social media and a lack of a religious foundation in their lives,” says Chloe. “What so many people in Generation Z are looking for is a sense of purpose, a sense of belonging, identity, and community.
“Many people who are broken, traumatized, or are otherwise just different often might seem to find camaraderie in the transgender community,” Chloe continued.
Children can't buy alcohol, cigarettes, or a handgun under the age of 18, because these things are harmful. Neither can parents buy those things for their minor children.
Life-changing, permanently body-altering elective surgeries and sterilization drugs should be no different.
States should absolutely have the right to ban harmful drugs and mutilating surgeries on children the very same way and for the very same reasons listed above. Children should be given the chance to grow up, both mentally and physically, before making life-altering and dangerous decisions.
Already 26 states have similar laws to Tennessee, including Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Georgia, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, South Carolina, Vermont, and West Virginia.
But LGBTQ activists are suing to overturn those protections. As Chloe stood outside praying, the High Court heard oral arguments from Joe Biden’s Department of Justice and the ACLU seeking to topple Tennessee’s ban on puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries for children under 18. Liberty Counsel filed our brief to protect people like Chloe and millions of other parents and children.
Even as we wait on this Supreme Court case, we continue to litigate for child protection laws, and we are also fighting to overturn the bans on Christian counseling, which have been shown to heal gender confusion. We have overturned 23 of these bans, but continue to fight another 87 bans from coast to coast. We are preparing to file three big cases on behalf of counselors who have clients who want to overcome unwanted attractions, behaviors, and confusion.

There is good news on the horizon regardless of how the Court rules — a revival is taking place in our land. Throughout COVID I asked you to join me and millions of other believers around the nation to pray in the spirit of 2 Chronicles 7:14. I believe we are beginning to witness the blessing.
During COVID, many churches refused to shut down and travelling worship ministries like Sean Feucht baptized thousands at events held coast to coast. Then, over the last two years, tent meetings and pop-up baptismals have been breaking out on college campuses nationwide. And Bible sales are “skyrocketing” according to the Wall Street Journal, which says America is experiencing a “golden age of Bible publishing.”
In 2025, I will share some exciting news about our ministry publishing Bibles and much more.
Let’s keep praying!
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
