This lifestyle is life threatening
“Transgender” individuals have a suicide rate up to 20 times higher than the general population — and this suicidality rate also applies in Scandinavian countries, which are LGBTQ friendly. And roughly 40 percent of those who undergo mutilating surgeries commit suicide.
Christian counseling is critically necessary for gender confusion ... but the LGBTQ lobby has managed to get this lifesaving counseling BANNED in more than 100 cities and states nationwide. Liberty Counsel has managed to overturn 23 of those bans, however, 87 bans remain on the books.
This fall, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear Chiles v. Salazar to determine if governments may ban a certain type of counseling simply because it is Christian. Liberty Counsel submitted our brief to the U.S. Supreme Court last Friday. We filed the first challenge to the first law banning Christian counseling in California in 2012. And we won the first and only victories at the federal Court of Appeals striking down 23 such laws.
Testimony from our client David* illustrates why these bans must be overturned:
When I was 5 years old, I was sexually molested by a 16-year-old high school boy who was also my neighbor. The internalization of this abuse and having no therapist available affected my behavior and resulted in social ostracism. I had traumatic experiences in perceiving and feeling that I was not really a male child. When I reached puberty and for many years after it, I found myself sexually attracted to men because of my earlier abuse.
For all these years, I carried a feeling of immense and crushing shame for my same-sex attractions.
During a period of twenty years following puberty, I became clinically depressed twice, dealt with tremendous anxiety, experienced obsessive compulsive disorder and knew in my heart that I was very confused about my sexual orientation and gender identity. In the latter years of this twenty-year period, I found a course of treatment that truly helped me resolve the issues I had been experiencing.
The successful treatment that healed David is known as Christian change counseling or talk therapy. But nearly 90 cities and states across the nation continue to BAN this lifesaving counsel.
Truly a life and death situation … and the LGBTQ admits it!
Tragically, 41% of people who undergo hormones and surgeries later attempt suicide. That rate is 20 times higher than the general population.
Furthermore, the suicide rate among youths who practice homosexuality — even those who have not taken hormones or undergone surgeries — is more than four times the rate of the rest of society.
In fact, one-third of “gay” youths report attempting suicide as of 2021 — even in an age where homosexuality is celebrated on TV, in movies, and in modern American culture, including an entire month now dedicated to LGBTQ “pride”!
By the way, these devastating statistics are not coming from Christians but from LGBTQ sources via the National Transgender Discrimination Survey (NTDS) conducted by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, the National Center for Transgender Equality, and the Trevor Project.
If the widely accepted LGBTQ lifestyle were truly happy and healthy, 30-40% of its participants would not be trying to kill themselves.
But even with this overwhelming evidence that the LGBTQ lifestyle is literally life threatening, the LGBTQ lobby has continued compelling cities and states to ban the one form of intervention shown to help gender confusion and unwanted same sex desires: Christian counseling.
Liberty Counsel began this fight 13 years ago in 2012. Although we lost the first two cases out of California and New Jersey, in 2015, the Supreme Court ruled on California’s law that forced our crisis pregnancy center clients to promote abortion. In that victory for free speech, the High Court abrogated these cases. This then led to our two victories at the federal Court of Appeals striking down change counsel bans in Florida.
Our two wins set up the conflict for the High Court to take this Colorado case. I pray by this time next year we will have a great win to finally end these dangerous laws.
Liberty Counsel is fighting to save lives as we battle these Christian change counseling bans. Please, fund the fight by supporting our legal fund. When you do, a special Challenge Grant will DOUBLE the impact of your donation. Please, give generously today.
And please, pray for the young men and women struggling to escape the LGBTQ’s transgender trap.
