Christian Realtors Punished Over Personal Christian Faith
Realtors’ association action is pure religious discrimination.
Last month, I wrote to you about how the Missoula, Montana, Realtors’ association had unlawfully stripped a pastor of his Realtor’s license because of his Christian faith.
Now we have a similar complaint coming from Virginia. Liberty Counsel is now on both cases, and we’re fighting back!
We will not allow ANY organization to get away with firing or punishing individuals simply because they are Christians! Please help us defend Pastor Ben and Pastor Warren by supporting our legal fund today, and a special Challenge Grant will DOUBLE the impact of your donation.
Like some ministers, Pastor Ben* in Montana and Pastor Warren* in Virginia have jobs outside the church. In addition to leading their small churches, these two pastors on different sides of the country also help families find their dream homes — that is, until LGBTQ activists decided to punish them in their professional careers because of their Christian faith.
The LGBTQ mafia never wanted to simply be left alone. As our caseload shows, the LGBTQ agenda is on the attack against Christians, fighting to force Bible believers out of their jobs, teaching roles, and nearly every aspect of public life. They seek nothing less than to ERASE Christians and Christianity.
Liberty Counsel is now on the case, and we’re fighting back!
Help us defend Pastor Ben & Pastor Warren! Every donation made today will be DOUBLED in impact by a special Challenge Grant.
In Pastor Ben's case, the problem arose when a food bank that Pastor Ben’s church had been supporting decided to promote LGBTQ content to children. The food bank began handing out LGBTQ coloring books to every child who attended the organization's free summer lunch program.
Because the food bank’s activities directly contradicted church doctrine, Pastor Ben and his church decided they could no longer support the LGBTQ-pushing food bank.
Angry with the church’s decision, LGBTQ activists filed an ethics complaint against Pastor Ben in his capacity as a licensed realtor.
To be clear, the church’s decision and Ben’s actions as a minister within that church had nothing to do with his real estate license or activities. But the LGBTQ crowd wanted to punish the pastor for being a pastor at a Bible-believing church.
Eager to please the LGBTQ activism camp, the Missoula Organization of Realtors, a subsidiary of the Montana Association of Realtors, ruled against Pastor Ben, ordering him to pay a 5,000-dollar fine and take pro-LGBTQ classes.
Pastor Ben did nothing wrong! After all, the Fair Housing Act is supposed to protect against religious discrimination — which is exactly what Pastor Ben was experiencing. But the Realtors’ group decided that LGBTQ rights were more important than Christians’ rights — and Pastor Ben was stripped of his license to sell real estate.
In Pastor Warren’s case, two competing, pro-LGBTQ Realtors filed multiple ethics complaints with the National Realtors Association because Pastor Warren posts Bible verses, memes, and sermons on his personal social media page.
Pastor Warren has been persecuted and dragged through the mud, and had his reputation and real estate career ruined because of the National Association of Realtors’ “Hate Speech” policies that blatantly discriminate against Christians.
This is outrageous, and we need YOUR HELP to defend these men.
Defend Pastor Ben and Pastor Warren!
But if the “Equality Act” passes, Pastor Ben and Pastor Warren won’t be the only Christians punished for their religious beliefs.
The proposed legislation effectively establishes LGBTQ as a protected class with more rights than ANY other class of people — including people of faith.
That’s because the Equality Act also specifically revokes the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Religious schools, universities, churches, and even pastors will be silenced if this bill passes.
We MUST stop the Equality Act. Please take a moment RIGHT NOW to fax Congress and demand members VOTE NO on HR 15 & S 1503!
Realtor Organizations are Not Above the Law. . .
Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, known as the Fair Housing Act, prohibits discrimination on the basis of religion, including against Realtors.
People who have a real estate license do not shed their rights. This intolerable discrimination cannot stand.
Pastor Ben and Pastor Warren could not afford to defend their rights. If they walk away from this issue, the stage is set for more discrimination against Christians. That is why we are stepping into this fight. We cannot do this alone. Your gift to Liberty Counsel will be DOUBLED by our Challenge Grant. Every donation goes 100% to ministry programs. This puts Liberty Counsel in an elite category you can trust.
