CBDC is the death of freedom

Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) is the ultimate form of control. If implemented, you will not be able to buy or sell without government approval. After years of urging Congress to act, we now have HR 1919 that has a good chance of passing IF we demand its passage.  

The Communist Party of China uses its CBDC, the digital yuan, to bar those who value freedom from participating in Chinese society or even spending their own money on necessities. 

As a Federal Reserve governor, Michelle Bowman said she “struggles to find a use” for CBDC. “We already have a safe, sound, stable and broadly available financial services industry in the United States,” Bowman said.  

Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) said a CBDC will turn your “money into a tool for coercion and control.” 

Programmable, and designed to replace cash, a CBDC will put the government in charge of your bank account — and ultimately, in charge of YOU! The administrative state under Joe Biden’s direction was working on a CBDC. But now we have an opportunity to end this threat.  

HR 1919 will stop CBDCs permanently. This critically important bill is now being taken up in crucial committee hearings.

STOP financial surveillance scheme!

As a former U.S. Army Special Operations soldier, now serving in Congress with the Freedom Caucus and the Republican Study Committee, Rep. Davidson has a long history of vigilance in protecting Americans from governmental overreach. That includes fighting against a financial surveillance system against all Americans.

On March 9, 2022, Biden issued Executive Order 14067, which charged the Federal Reserve to begin investigating Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). Fast-forward to July 2023, and the Fed was doing more than “investigating.” The Fed geared up to begin CODING the new, programmable digital dollars to replace cash and put the government in charge of every cent you make or spend. 

Congress can permanently end the push for a Central Bank Digital Currency. America must lead by example to dissuade other countries from this freedom-crushing system. 

Don’t let CBDC end our freedom!

It turns out that the Federal Reserve Banks of San Francisco, Boston, and Cleveland have advertised jobs for software coders and architects to program a CBDC digital currency.  

Meanwhile, the Boston Fed completed what it calls “Project Hamilton,” named for Alexander Hamilton who proposed the first National Bank of the United States to ensure federal control of the post-Revolutionary War states. 

And the New York Federal Reserve has been working closely with the Monetary Authority of Singapore in the development of a CBDC, as well.  

Infuriated, Rep. Davidson, said, “Money should not be programmable by a central authority.” “Money, he continued, “should ... not [be] a tool for surveillance, coercion, and control.” 

CBDCs are ALL about CONTROL ... 

As Communist China has already shown with its Central Bank Digital Currency, the digital yuan, CBDCs put the government in charge of every cent you make or spend. Because the “currencies” are digital and programmable, with the press of a button, the government can instantly prevent you from spending money on things they don’t like — sodas, large boxes of movie popcorn, gas-powered vehicles, or even contributions to Christian organizations like ours. 

“If governments and central banks control the creation, distribution, and exchange of virtual money, whatever remains of free markets will disappear,” says Gatestone Institute’s J.B. Shurk.  

Shurk notes that CBDCs allow the government to control the creation, distribution, and exchange of all currency, which is the death knell of free markets and private property rights.
