LGBTQ Attacks on Religious Freedom Are the Root Cause of Much of Liberty Counsel’s Current Legal Casework
From the lower courts to the highest court in the land, a shocking majority of Liberty Counsel’s current cases have one root cause — LGBTQ attacks on religious freedom.
Every American’s right to live out their religious beliefs is under attack. We are fighting on many fronts to save religious liberty, but we need your direct financial support to ensure religious freedom remains free.
A special Challenge Grant will DOUBLE the impact of your gift.
More than half of Liberty Counsel’s current cases are due to LGBTQ attacks on religious liberty. In addition to our work defending Christian teachers, students, parents, and employers in the lower courts, Liberty Counsel also has several high-profile cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, including (but not limited to) the following:
Chiles v. Salazar: Christian Counseling Bans
U.S. Supreme Court oral arguments TODAY. One-hundred and ten cities and states passed laws to BAN people from seeking and receiving Christian counseling for gender dysphoria. Liberty Counsel overturned 23 of these bans in court. But now the High Court must decide if government can ban people from seeking and receiving the counseling of their choice simply because it is Christian.
West Virginia v. B.P.J.: Men in Women’s Sports
U.S. Supreme Court oral arguments this session. West Virginia banned men from competing in women’s sports. The Court must decide if a gender-confused man can sue to overturn this law and force himself — and every other biological male — onto girls’ sports teams. Liberty Counsel has filed a brief with the High Court, and the oral argument date before the Supreme Court will soon be announced.
Davis v. Ermold: Religious Exemption Rights and Obergefell
High Court to conference on this issue by the end of the month. Our client Kim Davis has been sued by two LGBTQ men for daring to use her state, federal, and constitutional right to religious freedom and exemption from participating in an act that violates her faith. SCOTUS must decide if Americans can be sued for using their constitutionally guaranteed religious freedom rights, and if the Obergefell opinion should be overturned.

Liberty University v. Zinski: Trans Rights Collide with Religious Rights The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals to hear case. Jonathan Zinski applied to and accepted a job with LU under false pretenses. Upon employment, he signed a document agreeing to live in accordance with LU’s Christian doctrine. But as soon as 90-day probationary period was over, he demanded to be allowed to dress as a woman and wear makeup to work, in addition to being referred to by a woman’s name and female pronouns. Zinski argues that the school is violating Title VII. On behalf of Liberty University, Liberty Counsel argues that LGBTQ rights do not supersede religious freedom rights. We expect this case may well wind up at the U.S. Supreme Court. The Court must determine if LGBTQ activists can force religious institutions to change their religious doctrine.
Mayday v. Seattle: Discrimination and Incitement of Violence Against Public Worship Case filed in Seattle. Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, Police Chief Shon Barnes, and Seattle city officials purposefully set Christians up for violent attack by Washington state’s infamously violent antifa and radical LGBTQ activists. Despite clear video evidence to the contrary, and 23 antifa/LGBTQ attackers arrested, the mayor wrongfully blamed the worshippers for the violence. Government actors may not incite violence or slander against peaceful worshippers.
These are just a sample of many high-profile cases we have at the moment. However, more than HALF of our current caseload is defending Christians against LGBTQ attacks on their rights.
The future of Christian rights in America is at stake. On every level — from employment to real estate purchases to forced participation in the occult and/or the LGBTQ to child custody agreements — all are being used by the LGBTQ to erode and erase religious liberty.
ONLY your direct financial support allows Liberty Counsel to continue fighting for religious freedom. We never charge our clients because few could afford to fight government agents intent on eradicating religious rights. Instead, our clients rely on YOU, the faithful Liberty Counsel supporter, to ensure that EVERY Christian is free to live out the gospel.
Every donation made to our legal fund today will be DOUBLED in impact by a special Challenge Grant.

Finally, please continue to pray in the spirit of 2 Chronicles 7:14.
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
