We must STAND against those who want to silence the truth.
Gideon’s army was reduced from 30,000 to just 300. Yet the size of his army had little to do with defeating the Midianites.
Liberty Counsel is currently fighting the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which would like to “destroy” us. While we won a huge victory on April 1, 2025, when the federal judge rejected every frivolous claim, the SPLC has now appealed that ruling. We have 90 days to file our opposition brief.
The SPLC represents Janet Jenkins who sued Liberty Counsel because we represented Lisa Miller until September 2009. This was the first case in the country involving a Vermont civil union. During the pending appeals, Lisa disappeared with her biological daughter. We informed the courts that we lost contact with Lisa. Jenkins, now represented by the SPLC, sued many defendants, including Liberty Counsel.
The SPLC’s efforts to “completely destroy” Liberty Counsel have gone on for years, spanning three continents and seven countries.
Our legal team has spent more than 10,000 hours reviewing over 186,000 documents and taking 25 depositions that included over 11,000 pages of exhibits and 6,800 pages of transcripts. Then, after engaging in all that time-consuming discovery, Liberty Counsel was forced to expend significant efforts preparing a motion for summary judgment that included a 174-page statement of facts and a 142-page legal memorandum, all supported by nearly 6,000 pages of exhibits, plus about 150 pages in our reply arguments.
Now this case is at the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Every person who has testified and every document shows Liberty Counsel had nothing to do with Lisa’s disappearance. This SPLC case is about lawfare with an evil intent.
There is not a shred of evidence against Liberty Counsel!
In addition, Liberty Counsel is also part of the legal team representing the Dustin Inman Society in its claims against the SPLC. The SPLC defamed the organization by labeling it an “anti-immigrant hate group.”
The SPLC’s false “hate label” is dangerous and has caused acts of violence against groups as a result. In 2013, Floyd Corkins was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his attempted mass murder in 2012 at the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. Corkins admitted that he selected FRC because it was on the SPLC’s “hate group” list.
Mark Potok, then with the SPLC, admitted in an interview: “I want to say plainly that our aim in life is to destroy these groups, to completely destroy them....”
Thankfully, generous donors have answered the call and provided a Year-End Challenge Grant that will DOUBLE the effectiveness of your donation.
