Liberty Counsel scored BIG WINS for  
religious freedom in 2025 

In 2025, your support enabled Liberty Counsel to field over 1,000 legal help requests and handle several hundred cases.   

Our caseload for 2026 is already growing, but I wanted to share some of our successes with you today, because YOU made these possible!

At the U.S. Supreme Court, in our 36-year history, Liberty Counsel has won 40 cases we have argued or briefed before the Court. In 2025, YOUR SUPPORT funded: 

• Does v. NY Gov. Kathy Hochul. Liberty Counsel is defending New York Christian health care workers and employers against New York’s mandate to terminate employees with religious exemptions. The High Court has requested the U.S. solicitor general to write a brief expressing the position of the United States. Stay tuned.
  

• West Virginia v. BPJ and Little v. Hecox, where the Court will decide whether states can ban biological men from women’s Title IX sports. Decision pending.
  

• Skrmetti v. Tennessee, in which the Court ruled that states can ban puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and mutilating surgeries for minors. Liberty Counsel submitted a brief in this case. WON!

• Medina v. Planned Parenthood, in which the Court ruled that states can defund the abortion giant. Liberty Counsel submitted a brief in this case. WON!
  

• Mahmoud v. Taylor, in which the Supreme Court ruled that public schools and government entities must honor parental religious freedom rights over their children. Liberty Counsel submitted a brief in this case. WON!

In the Lower Courts, YOUR SUPPORT helped Liberty Counsel win scores of litigated cases. A few of my favorite cases include:  

• Sandra Merritt, who faced 16 felony charges and years in prison for exposing Planned Parenthood’s gruesome “Baby Parts for Sale” scheme. This year, Liberty Counsel was finally able to close Sandra’s case with no jail time and no fines. WON!
  

• Child Evangelism Fellowship v. Oakland, CA Unified School District, which refused to allow CEF’s Good News Clubs. In representing CEF 25 years, we’ve never lost. In this case, a federal judge ruled for CEF. Now the children can receive the Good News. WON! 

• Child Evangelism Fellowship v. Hawaii, where the state also attempted to ban Good News Clubs. A federal judge issued a permanent injunction ensuring these Christian clubs must be allowed on campus just like nonreligious groups. WON!

Other Cases. YOUR SUPPORT enabled us to resolve many cases without going to court, including these: 

• Saved a life by protecting a 17-year-old girl from being forced to have an abortion. Liberty Counsel was able to intervene to stop the abortion and protect both the mother and her unborn child.

• Forced a public high school to end “Witchy Wednesday,” which included detailed lessons on how to cast witchcraft spells.

• Restored religious free speech for a high school valedictorian who then testified before the Religious Liberty Commission. 

• Protected a Christian artist from discrimination lawsuits over her religious objection and refusal to make “queer” products. 

• Ended religious discrimination against a pastor who had his real estate license revoked over his Christian faith. 

We NEVER charge our clients because we know most people cannot afford to defend their rights. Our clients rely on faithful supporters like YOU.

Liberty Counsel has also been shaping law and policy by working with state attorneys general; local, state, and federal lawmakers; administrative agencies; and the White House.
