UCLA think tank’s bogus study debunked
Five years ago, a UCLA “think tank” called The Williams Institute claimed that Christian change counseling increased suicide rates.
Similar to the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) “studies” claiming children would kill themselves if not allowed to chemically castrate and surgically mutilate themselves with gender rejection procedures, it turns out the ideologues at UCLA did not tell the truth.
When corrected for errors, their own data shows that Christian change counseling actually SAVES lives and reduces suicides.
The U.S. Supreme Court will soon decide Chiles v. Salazar, to determine if cities and states can ban Christian change counseling just because the LGBTQ trans pushers don’t like it.
A team of researchers at Catholic University of America, led by Paul Sullins, Ph.D., professor of sociology, recently reviewed the Williams Institute study along with three of the other most cited anti-change counseling studies and found glaring problems with their conclusions.
Grievous errors in logic, deceptively reported data, and flawed conclusions littered the pro-LGBTQ research, particularly in the Williams Institute study. ALL the studies were performed by activists with a PRO-trans agenda, not an independent body of researchers as rigorous science requires.
Dr. Sullins and his researchers found that the pool of people the Williams Institute and others “studied” were active in an LGBTQ lifestyle. The effect, according to Sullins, was the same as if researchers had only polled divorced people about the effectiveness of marriage counseling.
Worse yet, Sullins and his colleagues discovered that the Williams Institute and similar studies failed to take into account people who were severely depressed and suicidal before attempting change counseling. This “backward logic,” as Sullivan calls it, is the equivalent of “banning anti-hypertension medications because it found that most persons using the medication have also previously had high blood pressure.”
When Sullins and his researchers corrected for this error, they found that the Williams Institute study proved that Christian change counseling actually reduced suicidal ideation and actions.
In addition to reviewing those studies, Sullins and his team conducted their own study analyzing the experience of people who had undergone Christian change counseling. This was based on rigorous research practices designed to eliminate bias. That study found that people who had participated in Christian change counseling were actually less suicidal, with a 9-1 ratio of positive results from this talk therapy.
But because the findings contradicted the LGBTQ-enforced ideology, it was almost impossible to get the study published in the U.S.
Help us OVERTURN the BANS and SPREAD the LIFESAVING TRUTH!
The UCLA think tank isn’t the only group fudging the truth in order to justify chemically castrating and surgically mutilating children and young adults.
A recent report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services found nearly identical problems with studies and claims created by the WPATH studies.
And similar to Sullivan’s studies, the HHS study found that WPATH, perhaps because they had the backing of Joe Biden’s Assistant Health Secretary Dr. Richard/Rachel Levine, was able to wield inordinate power to prevent medical journals from publishing the truthful and legitimate studies that contradicted WPATH’s nonsensical and wrongful claims.
How many more lies must we catch the LGBTQ pseudoscience pushers in before everyone stops paying attention to these child mutilators?
Liberty Counsel teed up the Chiles case for the High Court. Our case Otto v. Boca overturned 23 bans in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. But more than 87 bans in other states have remained on the books, including in Colorado, the subject of the current case before the High Court, Chiles v. Salazar. We filed a brief asking the High Court to take up this case, and we have submitted a second brief to the Court on the merits of the case.
Please keep praying for the hundreds of thousands of young people, just like Chloe, who have been deceived by the LGBTQ and the highly profitable industry. And please, pray the U.S. Supreme Court ENDS the bans on Christian counseling.
We ask for your prayers and your support to help us keep children safe and empower Christian counselors to set the captives free. Sign up for a recurring monthly gift. Our Challenge Grant will DOUBLE YOUR GIFT.
