13-year-old Ava still can’t go to church because of a shocking ruling
Imagine being told you cannot take your child to church — or to any religious meeting or even expose your child to the Bible?
Imagine a 13-year-old girl being prohibited from attending Christmas services, Easter celebrations, Bible studies, Christian events, and even spending time with her church friends.
That is exactly what happened to Ava. And we need your help to stop it.
For nearly two years, Ava and her mother, Emily, have lived under a court order that blocks Emily from taking her daughter to church and restricts Ava’s exposure to any religious teachings, including the Bible! The case is now before the Maine Supreme Court, and the outcome will reach far beyond one family. If allowed to stand, this ruling could create a dangerous precedent affecting parental rights and religious freedom nationwide.
But there is hope.
Liberty Counsel is fighting for Ava's right to attend church, worship freely, and maintain the Christian relationships that have been torn away from her. We are prepared to continue this fight wherever necessary, but legal battles at this level require substantial resources.
Thirteen is a critical age. The situation is desperate. It is like watching your child be harmed and being forced to watch the cruelty.

What makes this case especially troubling is that Ava has repeatedly expressed her desire to attend church and be with her Christian friends. Under the court order, she has not been able to see them for nearly two years.
She remains separated from the people and activities that were once a central part of her life. And this at a critical age.
Every day this case continues a teen girl remains unable to freely participate in the faith she loves.
That is why I am asking for a second commitment.
