A Call for Fair and Expedited Hearings on the Nomination of Judge Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court

Nov 2, 2005

America is at a crossroads ... one that will impact you, your children and grandchildren, and generations to come.

As a result of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's retirement, the next few months may determine whether our nation will return to the rule of law or drift to the left. The stakes are high and we must act now!

The President has nominated Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr. to the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Alito is well-qualified to serve on the Court. A review of his legal opinions leads me to conclude that his judicial philosophy is compatable with conservative Justices Scalia and Thomas.

The Senate Judiciary Committee needs to ensure fair hearings and expedite the nomination to the full Senate for an up or down vote. Justice O'Connor must be replaced soon.

We need a Supreme Court Justice who will interpret the law, not write social policy. We now have the opportunity to return the Court to the rule of law and recapture the Constitution.
