Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis’ legal fight has been chosen as the top story of the year in Kentucky, based upon the votes of the Kentucky members of the Associated Press. Kim Davis, the Rowan County clerk, was jailed this year after she refused to issue marriage licenses that conflict with God’s definition of marriage. 

Before being sent to jail for refusing to violate her conscience, Kim became front page news when asked under whose authority was she refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, she said, “Under God’s authority.” Even though she spent six days in jail, Kim first words when visited by her Liberty Counsel attorneys were, “All is well.”  The story made international news and significantly changed kitchen table conversations about homosexual crusades targeting religious people like Davis.

It has been a privilege for the entire Liberty Counsel team to stand with Kim Davis and defend her religious freedom. Kim never asked for the spotlight. However, her genuine love and kindness in the face of death threats and jail for merely honoring her Lord and Savior won the hearts of many people around the world.

The top story of 2015 was the Islamic State with Kim Davis and same-sex “marriage” at number two. The other top stories in order include: the Paris attack, mass shootings, black deaths in encounters with police, terrorism, U.S. election campaign, climate change, Charleston Church shooting, and Europe’s migrant crisis.
