Today the California Court of Appeal denied Liberty Counsel's Petition to stay the decision legalizing same-sex marriage. The Court of Appeal has now sent the case back to the Superior Court. A stay would have delayed the issuance of same-sex marriage licenses, allowing the legislature to rewrite statutes that conflict with the ruling, and allowing the voters to amend the state constitution in November when they vote on the California Marriage Protection Act.

The California Marriage Protection Act, which will appear on the November ballot, will amend the California constitution to state: "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." After the Act is passed, the so-called "same-sex marriage" licenses that have been granted in California will become useless pieces of paper.

Still, there is much work to be done before November. We must continue our efforts to combat this hideous ruling. Please pray that this decision unravels and that the will of the people is restored.

In November, Florida voters will also have the opportunity to vote for an amendment to guarantee that marriage in that state remains the union of one man and one woman. The amendment puts the existing Florida marriage law into the state constitution so that no Florida judge can redefine marriage with the stroke of a pen.

Residents of both California and Florida need to encourage everyone they know vote "YES" for marriage in November.
