Today, Liberty Counsel filed a Reply Petition at the U.S. Supreme Court, asking the Court to review the proposed Oklahoma Personhood amendment case. The Oklahoma Supreme Court short-circuited the process by not allowing the people of Oklahoma the right to gather signatures, because the state Supreme Court ruled the Personhood amendment conflicted with the U.S. Supreme Court’s abortion cases. Liberty Counsel represents Personhood USA and Personhood Oklahoma.

This is the first Personhood case to be brought before the Supreme Court. This case presents an historic opportunity for the Court to address the issue of a state’s right to amend its own constitution to acknowledge what science has long recognized – that human life begins from the moment of conception or fertilization and should be protected in law from its earliest beginnings.
