Mat Staver is scheduled to appear tonight in a debate on the CNN Headline News program, "Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell." The topic is the controversy surrounding Miss California after her recent statement that marriage should be the union of one man and one woman.

The program segment is set to air live from 7:40 - 8:00 p.m. on the CNN Headline News Channel.

The So-Called "Hate Crimes" Law

As we told you in a previous Liberty Alert, the U.S. House has given "actual or perceived" "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" the same federal legal protection as race in a so-called "hate crimes" bill. This bill could easily be named the "pedophile protection act," since the House refused to exclude pedophiles from protection.

Senator Ted Kennedy has introduced a similar bill (S. 909) in the Senate. The bill has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee, and could come up for a vote as early as tomorrow.

There is still time to combat this bill if you act now:
